Moneysavingexpert Warning!

Hi everyone.

Although moneysaving expert, and "compare the market" are very good sites, and will provide you with top notch information, they WILL also sell your information to other companies (or the other companies will use your information they needed to give you a quote). Not sure which one, but hopefully it's the latter one.

But even if you state that you don't want your information passed to anyone else, or to recieve any future offers, YOU WILL BE PLAGUED by other utility companies, and other rogue companies offering you their service (especially true if you own a company)

So my best advice to you (as I am presently getting approx 6 calls a day) is to enter a false phone number in your contact details (you will be contacted via email with your results so that wont stop you getting your best deal, and it is the number given that these companies use to sell their product to you).

As a clue, I'm being contacted daily by a company called:
meter registration services/consumer registration services, and a few other names, but they are all the same company based in Swan Street in Manchester. They tell me my meter isn't registered and that I am paying 30% extra daily (as I'm switching utility companies), all this is totally false and they also say they are working on behalf of the utility companies (the utility companies recommend I report this company to the police).
Now the only number they have is the number I used when registering with moneysaving expert!, but scarily they also have ALL my personal details too.

Sorry for such a long post, but I really am fed up with these fake or nuisance calls, and would not wish them on anyone else.
Also it's not just me getting them. A quick net search of the numbers calling me revealed that anyone who dealt with moneysaving expert/compare the market also got repeated calls afterwards, and all from bogus companies.

Feel free to PM me for more details

I think that you maybe getting confused with Money Supermarket* or similar, which is a price comparison site.

I am sure that the Martin Lewis site doesn't take any personal details, but I stand to be corrected.

*other compaison sites are available

Mr Nams is correct, while barnstormer's post is well written and informative - it is not relevant for moneysavingexpert.com.

apology

Thanks Adam, you are correct. My apologies to all.
At the time of writing my post I had just received a phone call asking for me by my first name, and saying it was from my "local police". When I queried the caller on who he was, he hung up!... Needless to say after checking with the police, they know of no attempt to contact me.

At the time I had the proverbial red mist up. But now I am calm and rational again, my mistake is clear.

Moneysaving expert is a top site, whereas the comparison ones are...........
