Flt Lt Sidney Dowes, Great escaper, dies aged 89.
Apparently there are only 3 surviving "great escapers" now.
Have just learned of the sad passing of this WW2 hero, amazing to read the obituary of such a gentleman, and links on the same page point to the true exploits of the other escapers immortalised in that famous film.
