I am due to stay in London in May and the Union Jack Club has been mentioned as a possible over-night stop. I am a very light sleeper so would welcome any comments on the club please.

Stayed 2 nights last year, excellent value for money right in the middle of London. A little noisy at night but you are in the middle of a city. A bit barrack block’ish but I have stayed in a lot worse for a lot more.
Overall, well worth it for what it will cost you.

Last stayed there in the 1970s the night that the I.R.A dropped a bomb in. I survived - I think.

Stayed there for five weeks a few years ago, just try get a room as high up as possible.
Definately a bit blockish, but well worth it for price and convenience.

wow is that place still open !!! i last stayed there in the early 80's
in those days it was hard to try and book a room, so i went over to the victory services club over in marble arch.
much much better and more central to town
with edgeware road only 30 seconds away and marble arch tube about 10 mins walk !! if that long
park lane is less that 5 mins walk.
so for me i would use the victory services club over the union jack club any day.
but that me and my choice.

Obviously, one would stay in the RAF Club if one was in town.
Failing that, the VSC is proper cheap and cheerful. Regardless, Central London = not quiet anywhere. Ear plugs are cheap.

If you read my post on MP's allowances/claims et al, The Union Jack Club is exactly where I suggested they reside when they are on "detached duty" in The Commons!

What's funny about it being literally around the corner ?
I suppose you must have a sense of humour being of porridge persuasion.
It's within 60m of the UJ club on Waterloo Rd. Even you could find it I reckon, you might need a map if you're RAF though.

If you are a light sleeper then London is not the best place for you. It is all pretty much the same in the hotels across the city. The UJC is cheap and cheerful, well run and in a prime location for the tube etc.

Pop in to the Stamford Arms in Stamford St, about 3min walk from the UJ. Weekdays from about 17.00 its full of tottie from the various wimmins magazines at King's Reach Tower just behind it.

Wife and I stayed there last year. We were on the seventh floor - no problems with noise.

Have stayed there twice. First time when I was a filthy tabber, I ended up with a box room on the first floor, bloody noisy, not particularly nice either. Second time, in a twin, room was bloody nice and on the fifth. No noise there.
