Offshore - what's the deal?

The offshore industry seems to be recruiting large amount of ex-military types currently, especially from Kinloss & Lossie, to do ROV driving amongst other stuff.

To anyone who has taken this path, d'you have any hints and tips - important stuff for CV, cashing in pension, employment terms & conditions gen ...

To those still in the mob who are eligible and are in a position to leave easily, what stops you from doing such a job (apart from the obvious, ie it's offshore!)?

Cheers all
