RAF merchandise
This from a marketing website today:

The Royal Air Force, in collaboration with 4Kids, is preparing to launch a range of licensed products. A 50-piece apparel range from Joi will launch at retail in March this year. Other deals announced include watches and sunglasses from Zeon, 2-way radios from Motorola, action figures and model planes from Martin Yaffe, toys from David Halsall, bedroom interior accessories and towels from Tex UK and video games from Myriad Interactive.

Harmless profile raising? Or will Gordon B insist you pay for JSF by selling RAF silk thongs and loadmaster action figures (with moveable eagle eyes)?
Incidentally, Ben Sherman got there first using the roundel on clothing, so RAF can't!

Would that be stuff to make your bedroom look damp, squalid, overrrun with rats etc that is now characteristic of UK services accommodation???
Or perhaps its a skipload of sand and a tape of RPG/mortar attacks to play at night?
Mind you - at least the 2-way radios from Motorola sound useful!!

Jeez, that towel is just a god-awful mess and was clearly "designed" by someone with all the visual aptitude of Stevie Wonder. Please tell me it's a spoof.
One part of me just thinks "To$$ers.....", but another part of me is mildly insulted that we're allowed to be "represented" thus. Yeah OK, it's just a towel, but it does suggest there's a whole yellow Reliant Robin van's worth of "RAF" tat out there, and if people are buying this crap and it turns out to be just that....crap, they'll automatically associate us with being crap too since it bears our name, and despite all the banter, I'm not entirely sure we deserve that.

Also will the action figures include a JP frantically counting the imprest, or a model of the Merlin line, should be cheap to make, there’s never more then one or two on there a day!!!

Forgive me for thinking of the bigger picture and actually taking some pride in the organisation I joined, but I just don't like the idea of "our" logo and name being bandied around in order to add to the apparent kudos of any old knocked-off made-in-China crap that Delboy and co want to flog. (And yes I know George W Delboy is doing it but that's another story) Other organisations don't stand for it, why should we?
And it's only a towel? Never read any Douglas Adams then?

No, you have an entire AT fleet with Royal Air Force on the side to confirm that. I'm sure a towel won't make much difference.

Once you've stopped giggling at your own witty retorts, no doubt you'll switch threads and start complaining no one treats us with even a glimpse of respect any more. Well, whaddya expect when Brentford Nylons and the like are allowed to do the unsolicited advertising for us?
Shifting topic slightly, why is wanting to be professional invariably met with shrugged shoulders, laughing, pointing and general ridicule or sarcasm, usually from those who also complain loudest about not being taken seriously by the outside World?
Do you actually enjoy being associated with crap quality or are you just accepting it as unavoidable?
