BBC have read a statement from the MoD declaring the aircraft type as a Nimrod MR2.

God Bless boys. Kinloss is in my thoughts tonight.

Damn, my half-brother is a pilot on the kipper fleet.

Haven't spoken to him in a bit and I'm not actually sure where he is.

RIP to the Nimrod crew. A mighty hunter has fallen, so far from home.

Heartfelt condolences to everyone affected.

Deepest condolences to the famlies, friends and workmates. Sad day for ISK if not for the whole RAF.

Sitting, as I am, just down the road from Kinloss, I hope the facts are straight now. Sad news indeed.

What a tragic day, our thoughts are with the families and friends of those involved. You are not alone.

Perhaps we should all quit the speculation until the NOK have been informed, the dust has started to settle and the news has sunk in a bit. You can be assured that the press and families/ friends will be looking to Pprune as a source of information and comfort. Every word thats written on this forum will be scrutinised and can cause a lot of pain.

Respect to the fallen.

Gutted......

I agree with Salad Dodger. I suggest we leave this thread to messages of condolence and start a new thread with our thoughts about press, MOD etc.
