Maybe a few people have seen this already - couldn't let it pass without comment.

As a former member of 28 (AC) Squadron from those heady days in Hong Kong, I would also like to add my congratulations to the boys for a job very well done.

I know there are lots of threads out there about GCM's, BOI's, Terms of Service, pay, allowances et al, but lets not forget the excellecnt job people are doing on behalf of HM Gov. It is the personnel (well, most of them, excluding those blanket-stackers on GCM's, BOI's .........!!) that prove the British Forces are still the best at what they do.

Take care of yourselves guys.

"The winners were selected by senior Flight International staff from nominations submitted by industry and individuals"

"No coincidence that OC28 sqn's Father sits on the Awards board!!!???"

From what I've heard the whole of 28 has been working their n**s off for the last 3 years so they probably deserve some recognition. As to the possibility of an inside job, I think that it would be rather too obvious!

height's good is good

I think height's good rumour is just a little bit too accurate. I am sure 28 have been working their collective rear ends off but you couldn't say that the rest of the SH fleet has been bone idle(r). Still, congrats anyway!

Heightsgood,

Are you suggesting that they received this recognition because OC28 sqn's Father sits on the Awards board. Is it not possible that they deserved it because of all they have achieved? Are they to be excluded because OC28 sqn's Father, seemingly, sits on the Awards board?

Sorry old lad but this self indulgent whine really gets my goat and you are beginning to sound like a first class tosser.

is a little strong considering height only made mention of something that I'm sure the majority of us were unaware of.
It is undoubtably the award is the result of 28 Sqn's achievements!!!! Flight International is a reptuatable magazine. However, does anyone know who came 2nd and who the other contenders were? As ever, being the winner in a race is only as good as those that you beat surely!

This is not a whine. The fact is that OC 28sqn's father is on the awards board (a fact that was told to me by 4 seperate members of 28 sqn.) It was only meant to be a passing comment and not meant to annoy people. Sorry guys but facts are facts!

Cragy, I got the impression from the citation that that was more or less the point - new and relativley untried kit in a difficult operational theatre: job done, kit proven.
