The new RAF Regiment Mascot was nearly named by public vote. Due to vulgar suggestions the public's name couldn't be used so the MOD fell back on their preferred option of "Chicky McCock-Knob"

The cover story for the development of Upkeep involved disguising the bombs as giant eggs. A corresponding disguise for the bombers was abandoned after it was found to be more conspicuous than the undisguised aircraft.
