Fritz was the only one enjoying Obersturmbannfuhrer Meier's compulsory morning briefing on "The Inevitable Victory of National Socialist Ideology". He logged 30 minutes of "Engine Air Test" with a very soft pencil

The Luftwaffe attempt at the long jump world record looked good, right up to the moment that Heinz discovered that the prop turned counter-clockwise...

Helmut decided this would look well on his CV (after demob, when he intended to apply for the job of Human Cannonball at the Circus).

From the Squadron Adjutant:

I have noticed that too many ground crew are sleeping on any convenient flat surface they find when standing by their aircraft. This practice is to stop immediately ! In particular lying down on or under the fuselage, the wing, tail or other flight surface is strictly forbidden.

It was Fritz's first day on the job, and having spent the morning being sent to stores for left handed hammers and anticlockwise screw drivers he was sure that the unteroffizer wasn't playing a similar trick on him when he was told this was how you 'put your back' into sharpening the prop blades.
