Bertie realised there was a war on, but a chap simply couldn't go into combat with his collar unadjusted.

Fortunately Jeeves was able to recruit and train a local as an airborne assistant valet.


(by WWII, the role of AAV was much reduced in both task difficulty and social importance, and retitled 'Navigator' )
