To the tune of Blondies "Hanging on the telephone".

I'm in the phone lines,
It's the ones near Mildenhall,
My plane is hung up,
It just won't seem to fall,
I've called the Commcen,
But they won't take my call,
Don't leave me hanging tween some wooden poles,
Don't leave me hanging tween some wooden poles.

You know Boss, clouds and silver linings. If we strung a couple of telegraph poles across a ship...

I think somebody got their wires crossed. The brief was to fly along the power lines and into the valley.

Navy methods of twisted rope making have come on leaps and bounds since the invention of the combustion engine. However, MOD procurement are at a loss as to why telephone orders have declined.

And the next thing you know is, all of a sudden they forbid smoking pipes in the vicinity of crashed aircraft. Health and safety gone mad!

Admiral Halsey. You know how you had that idea about Naval air power but couldn't figure out how to land one on a ship?....
