Future of the aircrew FRI?
I've just read in the latest 'Cabbage News' that:
"an announcement on the future of the aircrew FRI is due to be made before the end of the year [, following] speculation on the future of the incentives, and that they would be withdrawn for areas in the RAF where surplus aircrew exist."
As one who would stand to receive it (under this year's rules) in the next financial year, I'd be interested to know what you reckon.
Well?
(..... bearing in mind that on the next page the redundancy programme is discussed!)

Although it seems incredible with 7500 job losses in the offing, the latest info I have is that RAF FRI's will continue to be paid until 1 Apr 05 (and no it's not an early April Fool Joke) - in fact I know a few people that have got their payouts in the last few weeks.
The AFPRB are responsible for recommending the levels of FRI and the last Briefing Note I saw said that a Special Report is being rushed out in the next couple of months ahead of the usual planned report in Feb 05.
So if your are due the cash before Apr 05 then you will be lucky, otherwise expect zero.

Heard a good rumour from a source that should certainly know that the Navy one is definately not for the chop, and is in fact more likely to increase due to desperate shortages in recruitment!
