Employment for members of the Armed Service and other Crown Service is covered (from memory) by sections 191-193 of the Employment Rights Act 1996.

The act, and other legislation, is available from HM Stationery Office: http://www.hmso.gov.uk/acts/acts1996/1996018.htm

European law may provide some interesting ideas, but I believe not all elements have been encorporated into UK law. Suggest a Google search for those that are interested...

Just to let all of the guys going down to linton tonight know, I understand that we're holding a 'gopping shirt' evening in the bar then planning on doing Monday night Icon.
Should be a good one.

See you there

Not too bright advertising the fact that you are all off to Icon tonight wearing gopping shirts.

That`ll make you hard to spot .

Best of luck for tomorrow fellas. I`m sure (hope) the reality will be a lot than the rumours.

FFP,

I thought that was the half the fun being at Linton? (letting everyone know you “are” a fast jet jock)?

Anyhoo, good luck fellas. Big night either way I guess?

It is. But probably not best to post where, when and how to spot you on a public forum ?

Concur with Plum....group nights out to Ikon Beaver are generally as inconspicuous as a dildo at a christening. Did I say that out loud?

OK chaps, chapesses and chapthings, have fun in whatever branch of Ikea it is you're going to tonight. No more than 3 pints and safely tucked up in your (own) beds by 2300 'cos the nice man from Binnsworth is going to tell you that he's "Here to Help You" tomorrow - and you wouldn't want to barf all over him, would you?

Very best wishes to you all for tomorrow!

Someone with Beagle's level of experience might be able to help me here. Moving the topic back to our meeting with the pleasant chap from Innsworth tomorrow, when he invites questions, what should we ask?

Anyone got any questions they'd like to hear the answers to? Any questions you think we should want to hear the answers to?

I'm sure there'll be a flurry of posts around 1430A tomorrow, so to everyone who's taken an interest in this thread so far, what would you like to hear?

Having watched this thread since its inception, it does seem that the AF don't seem to learn any lessons at all. I was a victim of the "numbers game", as it was called 21 years ago. Plus ca change.........

Hope that the tomorrow's news is not totally bad news for the majority of you.

As the AF sounds like a fluffier, cuddlier IiP place than the one that I knew, maybe you will have success with redress and employment rights.

Is 'tmrw' somewhere in Wales? Or txtmsg-yoofspeak for 'tomorrow'?

If you've already passed the wings course, perhaps you should demand written confirmation of the fact and also a statement that you are entitled to be accepted for AFT in the future; that your age at that time will not be held against you and that you will receive the same rates of pay and seniority as your pilot peers in the interim? So if you need to accept some blunt job, then at least you'll have a chance the next time that the PMA cyclical swing is desperate for more pilots because they've stuffed up their manning plot yet again.

I have this image of a whole room full of people at Linton chanting "We fly or we f*ck off" to the Binnsworth person. But I guess that'd never happen. And I'm certainly not suggesting that it should.

When I was doing PVR-porridge at Binnsworth a year ago, a GD desk officer actually told me "Lucky you - I wish I was going - I don't trust the bug.gers an inch right now....."

Thumbs up

Good Luck tomorrow boys and girls. It wasn't that long ago the old jacket was in training and I know what a stress it is never mind having the extra pressure of this nonsense.

Hope Ikon doesn't get the better of too many of you...

And remeber go ugly early...It will only save time in the long run!

Having left linton not too long ago i really feel for anyone in the fixed wing training world atm, because lets not forget that the ME guys are facing being completely chopped, not just downgraded from FJ to ME.
As for the RW world, i spoke to JW last week after the rumours about today's meeting, and was assured that all students already streamed RW, whether holding for the course like me, or already at shawbury will remain unaffected. Rather ironic i feel as many people avoid the helicopter world due to its instability.
