Northallerton is 6 miles (or so) from Leeming;

Regretably no decent hotels (chain type) in area;

Station Hotel at Northallerton has a reasonable reputation & serves John Smiths - otherwise there are numerous Pubs quite close to Leeming;

Try the Nags Head at Pickhill - unless you hate good food & beer!

Concur. Nag's Head, Pickhill by far the best food in locality. 'Flexible' bar hours too!

Don't forget the Woodman Arms at Burneston, just across the A1. I believe the landlord is an ex-serviceman, they do accommodation and the food and beer are great.
By the way, although Theakstons beer has the name, Black Sheep is actually a better pint these days.
