4 MORE GRs TO LIBYA

We are sending 4 more GRs to Libya, bringing the total to 16 airframes.

BBC News - UK to send four more RAF Tornados to Libya

Do you need any willing pilots to come back from 22Gp to fly them!?!

4 more FJ on a land based unit but at what cost, surely it's time to re launch a flat top, bring back the Harriers and do the job better and cheaper............

Sorry for the thread creep but it was only a matter of time before it got converted to a Navy drip drip..............

So has UK based Tonka flying stopped then except for the OCU? We can't have many left surely?

They're only going because of the Op allowance payments are about to start. At least the ground crew wont get any and they will have to live in cramped hotels on receipted actuals, supplementing their food payments with heir own money, without any free internet access or free calls home. There said it, so now we dont have to mention it any further in this thread.

Did I miss anything?

UK based Tonka flying's still pressing along quite nicely, although it doesn't take a rocket scientist to push 5 sqns plus an OCU into 2 ops and end up with not a lot of people at home.

How many Harrier sqns handled HERRICK before they caved? 3? 4?

Despite the title of this thread, I did not mean to imply in my previous post that the deploying Tonkas will be forced to eat pasta and rotten oranges when they arrive in Italy. That would be silly because a/c are inanimate. To avoid any possible confusion, I was actually referring to the accompanying personnel.

Where a/c are concerned, items of food are classified as FOREIGN OBJECTS, the ingestion of which can cause FOREIGN OBJECT DAMAGE (FOD). If you feel any compunction to feed a/c with FOOD, please resist it. Remember that FOOD is FOD but FOD is not necessarily FOOD (even though it can be ingested by a/c). I hope that makes things clear.

Think first. Don't be a SILLY FODDER!

Thank you.

P.S. By alluding to 'FOREIGN' OBJECTS in such a negtive manner, I intend no xenephobic criticism of Italy, its food, or any other NATO ally. (Phew! Glad we've got that straight.)
