Qatar Airways To Moscow

Qatar will commence three times a week service to Moscow in August, using A300's.

Qatar and Emirates in competition? There's a surprise.

kumul1 18th May 2003 14:24

Why am I not surprised......... It's been like that for almost every other destination lately.

Hi!

What a clever move by QR to start Moscow! , imagine the load coming in from DXB .... robbing all the russians in the UAE!!!

There is more to come in this feirce compition with EK...
staytuned...

Qatari515 18th May 2003 16:11

A300 man,

could you check your info plse....

My source says that QR is going to start Moscow in july using the A319LR......

Which one is the truth...

A300Man 18th May 2003 17:35

According to my info, it's definitely ops on an Airbus A300, going in 2 classes.

However, I have been known to be wrong before........

The route has indeed been confirmed on the A319LR. Have a talk with the A320 pilots who have already been notified. Infact just ask your travel agent about the equipment that comes up on his/her screen.

A300Man 19th May 2003 01:51

Press release issued states A300. But, they could have made a typo simply.

Also, www.justplanes.com is also listing the route as on A300.

Why would an A319LR make any commercial sense to send to Moscow from Doha? (or an A300, for that matter)

Bang 19th May 2003 02:29

QR to ever compete with EK?-sorry!!!:{

A300Man,

Justplanes is extremely inaccurate. As for the press release. Here is an excerpt from a press release from the ATM.

------------------------
"Qatar Airways recently announced the delivery of a new A330-200 and A320-200. It will shortly take delivery of a long-range A319 corporate jetliner and is one of the launch customers for the A380 'super jumbo' scheduled for delivery in 2007.

Meanwhile, the airline - one of the fastest-growing in the world - has announced that it will begin a thrice-weekly Doha-Moscow flight on August 13th, making the Russian Federation capital its 42nd destination.

Qatar Airways will fly to Moscow every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

Flight QR 868 will leave Doha at 7.45am every Friday and Saturday, arriving Sheremetyevo at 14.00. Flight QR 866 will depart Doha at 11.25 am each Saturday and arrive Sheremetyevo at 17.40.

"This same day service is timed to suit both business and leisure travellers," said Al Baker. "There are strong and increasing tourism links between Russia and Gulf destinations and the operation of a premium service on the route is likely to attract a substantial following."

Qatar Airways will operate its Oryx Long range A319 aircraft, which seats up to 110 passengers in a two-class configuration on the route. "
