Many of my ex-Ansett colleagues have taken jobs with Emirates and Qatar and I will think of you often.
I don't doubt that if you are in any danger your respective airlines will take precautions and guard your safety.

Thank's for the kind thoughts, however in relation to certain airlines "guarding our safety" WRONGGGG.

Emirates started services again back to Kuwait the other day and didnt have an easy job doing it as most cabin crew called sick and refused the duty. Our dear DFO stated in an email to all staff that initially the operations back to Kuwait did not go ahead because and quote " The insurance premium for such a destination would make the flight UNPROFITABLE". The almighty dollar rears it's ugly head again. Who gives a stuff for the safety of crew and pax's, lets just get the dollars rolling in. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loungelizard, you have nothing to worry about. Unprofitability will always protect you from dangerous places. BTW, I operated in and out of Dahran in 91 and still here to tell the tale.
