A question for Clark?/

Why didn’t air fares reduce when oil prices were at their lowest recently?

Yesterday, Sir Tim Clark was quoted as saying that the cost of air tickets will start to rise again.

Could he please explain, then, why air fares did not significantly reduce when oil prices were at their lowest recently, and also why the “carrier-imposed charges” that were introduced by Emirates during high oil prices have never been removed, and still remain to this day?

Example: An EK ticket that I bought last week: Fare: AED 970; carrier imposed charges: AED 1,180; taxes and fees: AED 550; Total AED 2,700. So the carrier-imposed charges are 22% more than the fare, and 44% of the total.

How can these huge ongoing extra charges be justified, especially when oil prices have been so low?

Not because they would have bought all their fuel already when the prices were high?

Pilots risk being seduced by technology - Emirates boss

Tim, knows his pilots...........,,,

So airline bosses know that automation dependency is a problem, yet refuse to let pilots practice basic skills without flight directors even when the weather is good and the airspace is quiet.

What is their solution then? More disciplinary measures when it all goes wrong?

How utterly insulting, coming from an individual who in his senior position at the airline in question is largely responsible for some of the worst industry practices in existence today.

Personally any further discussion would likely be severely career-limiting, so I shall refrain here and now......

He did allow the job to deteriorate to such a state that they can no longer even attract 2000hr Barby jet pilots. Reaping and sowing.

Agree. And it is for this reason that I want to come work at Emirates. To have a boss that understands pilots and understands aviation is invaluable. It is wonderful to see Emirates taking safety so seriously and adding training beyond what's required to address what they know to be a deficiency amongst pilots.

If he doesn't want us to be seduced by amazing technological platforms, is that why we were given the tablet......?

You cannot be a pilot, you clearly do not understand and do not know what you are talking about.

No.

The tablet has a microphone and camera built in. With the tablet, STC and the like can listen in or watch what's going on at any time.

Read the London Gazette, got KBE mainly for bringing EK business to UK. Though public spin claims he got it for innovations in aviation, British rulers are smart, they carefully crafted words in the Gazette. His contribution to UK economy is genuine. Nothing to do with aviation. Apparently he used to be a great network planner, but current EK network disproves that theory.
