Oman Air
I see Oman Air are recruiting for Captains on the Boeing and Embraer.
Does anyone know up to date details on the package: Salary Housing Per Diem Schooling Medical etc etc |
Check with Parc Aviation for the official version. PM me for the real life.
Parc does not list any WY jobs?
Well they used to a few months ago. Do not know where else DQ4 found this info. however the T &C`s on offer were not splendid then.
I knew Parc were advertising in the past, but I now see from the Oman Air website they are advertising directly.
If you are desperate , OK apply , but if not , be very very careful what you sign up for .
I see they are looking for F/O's as well, does anyone have any useful points? Roster, lifestyle, pay........thanks all
How is it?
Anyone able to shed some light on the pros and cons?

I applied on line 3 months ago and i'm still waiting for a courtesy email!!!:\ |
Fair enough. Does anyone have any info about pay and benefits please?
Hi,
This is the actual working conditions for Captains. Fixed Base Salary : 3381 RO Utility : 182 RO Housing : 700 RO Total : 4263 RO Expenses : (120 hrs duty) = 500 RO Total NET in OMR : 4763 RO In USD, this is 12340. Annual vacations : 46 days (2x23 days) School fees reimbursed up to 75% by the company Medical for you and your family. End of service benefit (1 month salary per year you've spent) Unlimited ID travel Minimum 8 days OFF per month. Now in real life, very difficult in our days to get the vacations as all fleets are short of pilots. |
What's the pay/basics for year 1 f/o's? Any prospect of command as well?
Do they pay an education allowance even if your kids are not in Oman? If so does anyone know how much.
What sort of home can you get for the 700RO housing allowance Thanks in advance |

Yes, they pay education fees regardless of where your children are. RO700 will get you a four-bedroom villa on the Mawaleh or Al Hail side of the airport. If you want to live in The Wave, which seems to be popular now, you will have to fork out about another 300 rats on top of your allowance. Personally, I hate the Wave and prefer the privacy of a villa with high walls and a gate. My advice is to leave the kids and the missus at home for at least the first six months, and move into a one-bedroom apartment in the short-term. Oman Air, and indeed Oman, is not for everyone. And moving all the ducklings over on a whim has already burnt a few pilots in the past. Car loans, advance rent cheques of up to a year (jail-term for bouncing a cheque here!), furniture all bought and then deciding the place is not for you.....or your superiors deciding that you are not for the place, is a large mouthful of stress to swallow. WHAT TO DO?????
Good advice from the previous poster. It depends if you're capt. or f/o.
But I think it doesn't really matters, because the omanization is a fact. it will take some time, but it will come. As capt, prepare to find out something else in the short/medium term. As f/o, do the same, but hurry up mate!!! you are loosing your time, they will never upgrade you, and sorry, that's word of street and a real fact. Use this as a bridge to better places, nothing more, nothing less. Good luck. |
Do anybody know sth about a medical check for oman air? Do the accept e.g. the german medical or have the candidates go through a special check in oman?
You can join on your current medical , then you will have to take company medical for the issue of your Omani Licence.
Do you have any detailed informations about the medical? Radiation, eyes and so on? Like "astronautical" medical for china?
No ,it's not rocket science , maybe a blood lipid test , the usual chest x rays etc .
