Clapping and cheering
 

So what happened to the clapping and cheering this 30th April?

Isn't this when the annual results and profit share are announced:ugh::D

still an hour before knock off time at HQ ... but dont expect much clapping and cheering !!

I remenber an E-mail sent out few weeks back saying that"due to the difficult and demanding financial year"the announcement was delayed to the 2nd week of May... :{

Though beatings are fully sanctioned!

Hmmm, clapping and cheering.
The last time I experienced this from the pax was the last landing I did in Russia a few months ago.
Not from my landing you understand (the First Officer did the deed, nice one too) however prior to departure, some of the pax had created such a ruckus in the terminal (long story) so they had all been confined in the lockup for 24 hours, then told to behave themselves...or else.
These folks were so glad to be home, they were all smiles, hugging and smooching the CC (even the boys:ooh:) and in the end, when the last one deplaned he handed me an envelope stuffed with cash.

Found a piece on Wiki with Maurice quoted as saying Emirates had made "a modest profit for 2008-2009". Lost the link but if you Google "Emirates Financial Results for 2008-2009" you'll find it.

It also mentions the results have been delayed. Call me a cynical b*ger but I reckon they delayed releasing them to get past the pay reviews and so they could give the spin about what a difficult year it was. They'll release them in a couple of weeks announcing a few hundred million dollars profit, sure -small compared with previous years but still very substantial in relative terms for any business in this climate. Freezing pay etc will only wash for a short time, when staff see these results and the fact the Company is still making bucket loads there will be eruptions and they know it - there just not sure how they can massage the figures to hide it :=.

You are assuming they give a rat's a** about the minions that work here. They will say "tough year, no raise, no bonus, tough sh**." End of story. Genuflect to our perfumed princes is what you should be doing, they will say.

You only have to look at the front cover of SAFAR magazine (issue 238) to see where our 3% increment has gone.

More than 2500 travel and tour operators, MICE agents ( WTF!?) and 300 journalists enjoyed tours, meals, hotel accommodation and flights over an exciting 3 day familiarisation trip. The 'keep discovering Dubai' campaign cost an estimated Dhs 50 million. :hmm:

Don't know why they bothered really. Even if they are taken in by all the glitz and persuade punters to come, if the current rate of sackings continue, there'll be no bloody pilots left to fly them here!

Repairs
 

Probably your profit sharing went to paying the repair job for the A340 in Melbourne. Boy did EK take a nose dive this year. Probably also the delay is due to cover of its losses this year if it wouldnt not have been for the sale of the 3 A310 to Kuzu Airlines and the injection of Money from Ethihad
