crj200
Hello,
I have my Canadian ATPL, 1600 hrs, and I am flying north of Canada. I just finished one month training on the CRJ200 (it’s a scholarship I received from my flying school). I have got my crj200 type rating 2 weeks ago and I am now looking for jobs oversea, especially I the Middle East. I have already sent resume but no answer yet. I am just looking for some advises, like “don’t apply for that cie, you will get screwed”, or “apply for that cie, you are not gonna have any life during a while but you will fly a lot”. Thanks you |
Don't know of any scheduled carriers operating the type, maybe a few vip's Challengers around..you are a bit short of total time for most airlines here, but you never know..keep pounding on doors..one might open

Hey Navajo!
Have you read the threads on here? I understand you might be getting a bit cold up there in Canada, with winter on the doorstep, but there are many beautiful places on this planet, and Lego-petro-land on the shores of a polluted sea with the dessert behind you is not one of them. Seems not one good word is uttered about the gulf on here. i haven't worked there, but after having flown to the region for years, and after having heard a lot of the working conditions (I don't mean the pay, it's about how you are being treated), I have abandoned all plans to get a job there. Good luck, Nic |
I guess you're right about these pollluted petro-land, the problem is that I don't really know what are the countries where I have possibilities, due to citizenship, work permit, licence,... I'll try to answer to this primary question in the Canada forum.
Thanks |
Going on your english I am guessing you are not a native Canadian.
Perhaps go back to your native country. |
I'm from Quebec, part of Canada.

Contact Execujet directly. Many will try to discourage you. Your luck is your luck and not some other disgruntled soul trying to tell you that you need 700 hours of heavy jet, preferably B777 or B747. A mission or two in space would auger well in your favour and if you're 18 with blond hair and blue eyes, you'll definitely go to the front of the cue. On top of all this, if you happen to be precisely 6 feet with a JAA licence, you will be first in the cue. Try Jet Personnel in London England. They might surprise you and Jacquie actually tries to place pilot applicants. Good for the customer and not too shabby for the pilot looking for work. Contact Arik Air directly. This would be a great place to get in touch with your adventurous side. Not to mention your scared sh**less inner soul. That hot, fresh, type rating won't do you much good without time-on-type. These guys may help you get some of that time. Once you have 500 hours on type, you're out of the starting gate. Corporate pays better than airline. Corporate gives you a better deal (in most cases) than airlines. Don't waste your time with operators who want you to pay for your type rating. They need pilots so let them pay for the type rating. This approach may take you a bit of time but in the end, you'll have fewer regrets about chosing the wrong profession when you've been f**ked around for the better part of 20 years. Good luck and all the best. Willie  P.S. Ability and smarts counts in this profession so don't be shy about telling prospective employers how you got the type rating. |
Thanks a lot Willie!
That's exactly the kind of comment I was looking for! |
