This is from the layman's words today waiting for his relative from Dubai.

EK flight to DAR is in Entebbe Uganda , interesting !

I don't think they have alternate as far as Entebbe from Dubai overwater to DAR, nearest will be Mombasa , NBO , JRO

Unless they have passed thru Entebbe dropping spares for AOG a/c there, I don't see any other reason.

But will know by tomorrow the real thing

Weather radar failed from DXB-DAR. The flight was diverted to Entebbe to pick up a spare it was going to need to operate DAR-DXB for night operations. Without the spare the planes was going to be AOG in DAR. There was no way of getting the spare from EBB-DAR to prevent a Night stop. Again Emirates came out on top to ensure the pax will get to Dubai without a night stop. Well done to them.
