What's the average time to upgrade in EY? Heard there's a chance of DEC is that true?

astronaute 24th July 2010 04:08

Upgrade ? There is a 60 % failure rate !

Good luck :ugh::ugh::ugh:

dustyprops 24th July 2010 07:53

You guys never learn! Look at the threads, all of them. There is masses of information regarding both EK and EY and even QR for that matter. Why Why Why can you not be f@cked to just plough through, and all your questions will be answered.

Is there gonna be DEC's soon? Is a question that is asked hundreds of times, and the answer - Who the f@ck knows!

Read the stuff posted here, read the company websites, apply, come for an interview, hell splash out and bring the wife. Wait for a reply, if you are offered the job, have a think........If you decide to take it, you either haven't read all the posts here, or you are friggin nuts!

Simple.

with about 2200 pilots (1100-1200 FO's?). all these numbers come from from flight global dated from a few weeks ago.

Just for info there are today 2370 pilots on the EK seniority list and I guess (I hope:\) many more to come...

Iver 24th July 2010 14:37

From what I have read, more pilots are leaving EY for EK than from EK to EY. That should tell you something... If you want to fly narrowbodies, fly for EY. If you desire a confirmed widebody position going forward (and its associated jetlag), fly for EK.

saviboy 24th July 2010 16:02

Iver, no more pilots will be going from ey to ek. Ey pilots are banned to do so.
To add to your comment about flying narrowbodies at ey, I would say that if you want to age a few years in a few months, you ll have a blast on the 320 at ey.

EK 2504 pilots on Thursday
9% pay rise is wrong, 14 week bonus was 3 years ago, overtime 78 was 3 years ago. Lots of duff gen, read the sites yourself

Royalblue 24th July 2010 17:31

Is it a big no no for hiring when you have an incident or they actually don't care? Jal wants you to be free of incidents/accidents to even go for an interview. On the other hand Qatar didn't care.

Duff gen indeed... Like I said; 2370 pilots on the EK seniority list as of right this minute. NOT 2504!!!!

I'd say one should look to join a business, not show business.

Emirates is an airline, QR and EY are vanity projects which are transitioning to kleptocracies a la GF a few years ago (still?).

All but EK will gradually expire as their owners lose interest in watching their waning oil and gas revenues disappear into the polyester pockets of mail-order MBAs from Melbourne.

ekwhistleblower 25th July 2010 15:11

WK, I didn't mention the seniority list. Anyone applying now unless they have a short notice period will have the 3 courses of cadets finishing off in Adelaide ahead of them which are not included on the seniority list, there are actually over 120 out there at the mo. But who cares, upgrade policy will be driven not just by pilot numbers but also aircraft delivery rate post Farnboro which will determine the recruitment rate. Interesting times ahead.
