Gday all, I've just acquired a 1900 type rating and a bit of time on type and am keen to get where ever the work is (like everyone else :) )
Any current employment info on Falcon would be greatly appreciated plus current fleet details, I heard they were getting 10 more 1900's?? Probably just a rumour but just thought I'd ask.

That comment was zero help and uncalled for. The guy was just asking for some help and did admit he only heard a rumour. You say you are an F/O, well some help would be appreciated if you knew any better, for the people who are not as lucky as you to be already in a job flying.

DHL have something about the 1900 size, sits in Kuwait during the day, dunno if its a 1900 or a metro though.

There are two operators up this way one with metros and the other with 1900's seeing as you have the 1900 Falcons the best bet, The only way to get your licence over here is through your employer so they take care of that when you get hired, it's a straight forward conversion exam but you can fly on your australian for up to 3 months via a validation.
Getting employed is the big step but be persistant and if you can come up and meet the FOM would help a hole heap, put a face to the name so to speek.
the company is all expats so thats a help unlike DHL with the metros.
From what I hear they have quite a few people on their books but have employed quite a few in the last few months.
They are a good operation and the lads do around 80 hours a month most of it night.

Do they require ATPL subjects to be complete or can the FO get away with it until he needs it? My subjects are about half way there but just curious?

I worked for Falcon from May99 to Oct99.
ATPL subjects are not required.
Usually, when co-pilots upgrade and they don't have their ATPL, is to go to the States and get it, and then they'll do their PIC checkride/conversion in Dubai.

I did +90 hrs. a month - all night....!!!!...except one day route.
Life in Dubai is great, but the flying is so boring....

Please could you tell me what Falcon's minimums are? Also, I understand from previous postings that a 1900 endors is required. Is that 1900 or 1900D? One other thing, can you confirm that thy are based & recruit out of Dubai ?

Hello All

I realize most of you are sick of answering such questions from low hour pilots, But I was wondering If the situation over there may have changed in the last few months.

I’m a fairly low hour (300 Total) pilot over in the land of aus, In my short time in this industry I’ve been given the run around by so many people, been treated like garbage by prospective employers, told to fly what should have been U/S aircraft or I’m out of a job.. basically had the worst time I could possibly have imagined. Maybe I’ve just been unlucky during my short stint in GA but its given me major motivation to move on and into a more professional enviroment ASAP.

So now I get to my point, I was wondering what my chances would be of landing a FO position in a B1900 or a Metro with one of the operators over there, if I were to arrive on their door step one day with the relevant co-pilot endorsement in hand?

I have 300 Hours Total Time, 30 of which is muti engine and a burning ambition to get out of GA
An Australian CPL and MEIR
No ATPL subjects as ye,t tho from what I’ve read that may not be a problem.

I realize I would possibly be the exception to the rule… but would I at least have a chance if I turned up in front of Falcon or DHL??

As previously stated, persistance pays off, as does having b***s big enough to make a dramatic move like knocking on the door. Having said that, timing is everything, and just imagine what could happen if the day you arrived on the stoop, an FO had just flown the coop? Dubai is a long way to go though.

Have you considered instructing, banner towing or sightseeing tours to get your total up a little?

Good luck...If I were a manager and you showed up on my door with a good story, and I needed you, I'd hire you. Still got to meet insurance requirements, though, and that may be your largest obstacle.

Give them a call, they'll be needing another 2 - 3 F/Os in the next couple of months.

10 B1900 I don't think so, going from 4 planes to 10 would be quite an expansion.

Possibly 3 because they want to lose the fokker in Bahrain which is operated by farnair.

Well yes I've gotten to know the insurance story off by heart after all this time...

Still by the sounds of things I may only need another 200hrs or so.. meat bombing sounds that little bit more attractive now :)
