How's flying for Kuwait airways? Where ar their bases in the US if any?

With KU, it is almost a case of "Dead Mens' Shoes": as the airline is State-owned, and the fleet size is static (the Parliament having just turned down a request to buy a new fleet), there is very little movement in the flight deck crewing. The flight deck crews are mainly either Nationals (preferred) or Other Arab (many Egyptians), both of whom can cope with the Civil Service mentality of the current Management. Because length of service is valued and change is abhorred, there is very little movement of pilots in or out of the company. Also, because the lifestyle is comfortable, and the pay relatively good, with the cost of living in Kuwait lower than in other Gulf states, very few captains move out voluntarily.

KU only flies to New York in U.S.A., and all crews are on stopover: no crews are based in U.S.A., either flight deck or cabin crew.

I hear privatisation of KAC has been given approval? If so I believe nothing will happen for a while as usual, but do you think there will be any changes in fleet one day, or bases if it ever happens?, I understand they had pilot bases in asia once upon a time?

i am a kuwaiti pilot working for kuwait airways.

the info you posted about kuwait airways having arab nationals (egyptians) flight deck crew is incorrect.

we don't have egyptians flight deck crew at all...and never had before.

Jazeera airways have egyptians flight deck crew but not kuwait airways.

Kuwait Airways have been given the approval for privatization ...the company will be private after 2 years from now.

we still have pilots based in thailand (Bangkok)...and pilots based in U.K (london).

Thanks kuwait340: I stand corrected.

Regarding the planned privatisation, it will be interesting to see how this develops over the next couple of years, and how KU will respond to the increasing challenge from the no-frills airlines in the regional market.

What about the A300 Capt. who was planning to crash onto the American Embassy some time in the late 90s, wasn’t he an Egyptian. I know his accomplice was a Lebanese, not a pilot, got the !!!! beat out of him by the local police. Ended up half paralyzed for spilling the beans to the police at the 11 hour. The Capt. I heard was just handed over to the Egyptian Authorities or something like that. Can`t confirm what happened to him. I can confirm I never saw him in KU after that news broke out.
