First TC is telling Airbus which construction method they should use to build their A350 fuselage, and telling Boeing their engines are too small on the B787; now EVC Maurice is telling 95% of the world's scientists that they're wrong about global warming! Quote from today's Gulf News;

" Don't talk to me about global warming..I just do not buy it whatsoever" MF said at an aviation conference in Singapore. "Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth is absolute rubbish" added MF, who said he had watched it three times.

Jeez, I had a bit more respect for the old fella prior to that little outburst. Seems being a senior exec with EK now makes you plane designer, manufacturer, and climate expert to boot. Perhaps it might be time for MF to retire gracefully...go live with the polar bears for a few years and see what's actually happening to the ice caps.

Interesting that you have less respect for MF now as I have more than even before.

The quote is brief but if and when we hear the full remarks I suspect they will reveal that he is saying what any right-thinking person would. Specifically, that it is by definition tosh to make any statement linking humans and global warming. We don't have another uninhabited earth in a parallel orbit as a control, ergo any talk of scientific "proof" is wrong by definition.

An ever increasing population and everything that goes with it is bound to create an imbalance- more machines more waste more people more waste...etc?

I don't contribute to these forum's often but..

I gotta say that on the "Global Warming" issue, I agree with "Ole Fart Flanagan".

- a large percentage of the "scientists" on the UN's IPCC were not scientists at all, some were nothing more than clerks. This was an INTERGOVERNMENTAL body. AS far as 95% of the worlds scientists agreeing to this? That's a lot of people to go out and ask what they think.

- the hottest decade on record occured about 70 years ago, before industry had any effect. The years that Gore claims were WRONG

- many of Gore's other claims are being disputed by climatologists, those who dare say anything

- the polar bear population is actually UP in Canada not Down as some people suggest. And they have been through very long warm periods before this

- approximately 400 years ago, the UK had an ample supply of vineyards, as the temperatures were so warm, wine was locally available

- Parts of Eastern Canada this summer hardly broke 20* till July, usually happens May. Facts like that are not advertised near as much as if the opposite happened.

- Yes it is getting warmer, but I do not believe we are the cause. There are much bigger natural forces at work. (The sun for instance)

- Gore makes ten's of thousands of dollars to come say "hello"

- The other management claims? Yeah TC/MF are full of !!!!e

I would have to agree with MF and jinglied,

-Everyone's going on about how our climate has changed so much this year. May i remind everyone that scientist say the phenomenon known as "El neno" occurs on average every 9-10 years... But it doesn't seem that any one of them remembers the last one was during 1997.

-Everyone predicted that Dubai would experience a temp reaching 54 C. I must have been on a layover when that happened coz i don't remember that happening.

-More rain fell in Dubai last december than in the past 6 years put together!

I think 'Global Warming' is just a way of selling enviromentally friendly light bulbs, cars, and plastic bags!:D
