Just wanted to let you know that skype is concerned that their product is getting blocked. I'm working on my own product the will work in conjuction with skype and hopefully It's a million dollar idea. I'd rather stay clear of the Uae and the mideast. I agree with other posts in regard to stopping this thread or just letting it die. It is my understand that encrypting communication in the uae is illegal.

did anyone already try the new 2.6 beta version if that gets around the block without any outside help. I don't wanna try it because mine is working good at the moment :-)

I had problems with my camera on skype, worked with all other progs. Now OK, after latest update.

I am not in ME, but Moscow, and can not confirm sit re UAE etc. But upgrade is of benefit.

Hi all ya Skypers,

Skype beta 2.6xx definitely can't bypass the Eti$&!t block. It was also released some 3-4 weeks ago, before Skype was "terminated" in the UAE. Let's hope Skype soon comes up with an upgrade that renders Eti$&!t's investment obsolete.

Some friends of mine who live in areas where DU is the telecoms provider can still use all VoIP services. DU reportedly did not block these services... yet!

Hate to join the ranks of the paranoid, but given our travails with our local ISP, I suggest that no one shares workarounds with unknown quantities.

There could well be new posters (one or two posts, joined recently) who are actually stool-pigeons. :uhoh:
