Booze in Kuwait

A friend of mine is being transferred to Kuwait and was told no alchohol is available at all. Is that true? TIA.

ironbutt57 23rd October 2006 03:27

Oficially it is a dry country

MrBernoulli 23rd October 2006 11:41

Don't get caught with it ...... you will regret it!

doubleu-anker 23rd October 2006 12:51

Correct. Also the person who relieves you of it, will no doubt drink it.

Empty 7-ups using a seringe. Insert the booze(suggest vodka due to lack of color), use aluminium foil tape and mix with other 7-ups. Have some ready to give to custom. Enjoy it.

Fiddle with syringes to spike empty 7-Up cans? Get real. (Not a slight at you, just at the ridiculous steps to import refreshments, etc!)

Why bother living in a place that you have to go through all that B.S. to get around some bone-headed rule at all? Do what most people do and realize there are happier places to live where you don't have to pussy-foot around to "comply"! Screw the idea of living in places like Kuwait who have these archaic rules...same to their neighbour to the south-west (etc, etc, etc)!!

(And before anyone tries to sling mud back about this by spouting the virtues of pure booze-less society, explain why the Johnny-Walker Bridge over to Fantasy Island is over-run with Kuwaiti's and KSA-ers (and Qatari's) that have to go bee-bop around at the clubs there, drinking their faces off, driving like complete idiots, demanding rudely for service from various restaurants, stores, etc...only to peel back the same or next day to their "dry-land" residences...only to climb back on their pillars to spew how pure it is to have a dry country??!!??!!!)

If anyone wants to live in a place like that, good luck. Most of us would view that as living on giant pieces of fly-paper, with each step mired in sticky goo. What a way to live life - NOT!

...oh the bucket of smelly poo is getting heavy...

:ugh:

Thanks for your responses. I thought that it would be available in hotels. He's only there for a year, and he is being well paid to do so. He's lived in the Muslim ME before.

It's not difficult.

Spirits
Get an empty 5 ltr bag from a wine box. fill it with vodka, gin, whisky, whatever. Take it in in your hand luggage.
If they catch you they confiscate it and tell you off, no big deal!!

Beer
Buy a plastic dustbin. Buy 4 cases of no alchohol beer from the Supermarket, empty it all into the dustbin, throw in some sugar and yeast and leave for a couple of weeks. Voila! beer with alchohol.

Wine
Same deal. Buy a 25 ltr plastic jerry can buy 20 bottles of graush red grape juice, wash and keep the bottles. top up with water, throw in 2 kgs sugar and some yeast and stick a condom over the top of the container. The condom will go up and when it comes down rack the contents off into anothe jerry can and do the place another condom. When the condom goes down on the second container rack off into the saved bottles and you now have 20 ltrs of red wine which will get you pissed.

Oh! and tell him to join the Hash for fun with drinking friends!!

On On

Plenty of blackmarket alcohol in Kuwait. Mostly smuggled in by xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

The guys who can't get their hands on it do the home-brew thing.

When I was there all the expats seemed to be flush with alcohol drink a lot more than they do at home. Reason? Not much to do in Kuwait but sit around and drink with fellow expats.

Smuggler's details removed. Best not left out in the open. 4HP

Having watched for many years the Saudis getting totally RatArsed in London clubs eevry summer I also get a bit peed off with this nonsence now that I'm working out here... Total Bull!!!!!... you don't have to be an 'Alchy' to want to relax at the end of the day with a couple of beers and dinner without wine is an uncomfortable and uncivilised experience...

Chronic drinkers wanting to go to rehab should go to Kuwait instead...
