Gulf Air increasing pay, etc??
Is Gulf Air about to increase pay, housing & schooling?? Are there any truths to the rumours?? :ok:
Does anyone at GF have an inside scoop? It would be good news for those poor sods over there, plus those who would like to join. Any facts? ~ R.D. |
We got 8% this year already, doubt we're about to see more. That was the last official promised raise as well under Hogan, so who knows about next year.
As for housing and education..it's long overdue, but no one has said anything official yet. I heard a rumour about them adjusting schooling from some recent interviewees, but i'm not holding my breath. |
nope.
You're absolutely right, tbalyx. Just got the letter of offer and lo and behold, no changes whatsoever to the housing, schooling, etc etc......same ole same ole.

Ouch, Sal-e! :uhoh:

cost of living
PJ, from that comment, I thought it best to delete that last statement. I am sure that every airline has the pros and cons with regards to their remuneration packages with cost of living as a big factor in all of this.

If you find it problematic Sal-e enough to comment on it before you even set foot on the property, then you better think hard about it

We've never heard it promised..least not through official channels..dont know where you are coming up with that info...the comment is always if we give it to pilots we have to give it to everybody...

Rumour mills can be disappointing, and like any airline they abound at GF about fleets, increases in this and that, all the increments we were promised did indeed happen, but those were published..there has never been a publication about allowance raises, although I'm sure it has been studied at some point or another..yes it would be nice, but until it becomes official, best put your mind to something else...:ok:

Some information from the HRVP
I have to agree with IB, there has never been an official promise to increase the allowances. I had a meeting with the HRVP for another reason few months ago and I took the opportunity to ask the man himself. He told me that prices of rental, for example, are going up and down since the 90`s. Thus no need for increasing allowances, but they are "studying". Please dont be angry with me, I am just reproducing what I had been told. At least is some information from the proper source. Looks to me that they are convinced pilots will leave the company anyway so giving then more money will increase the costs( nobody wants to be responsible for that at the moment) without reducing the turnover time.Poor thing...

you're right...but all in all, the package is okay unless you got more than 1 child. that's why i'll be leaving my entire family in australia for the entire time i'll be in bahrain. i mean what's the use of working anywhere if it's hand to mouth and no savings? there's ways to trim costs to make a buck and that is my way...possibly the only way. there's others who have families there but they'll need to live in a tent to save...or live ultra-frugally.
this position obviously favours and indeed caters for the single types or couples with no kids. i guess the airline and the likes of you guys (not bad types mind you) only need to say "well if it's not for you, don't join up" and that's that, plenty more in line. that's all okay. because that's how the whole industry runs. there's nothing abnormal about it. the point is am i complaining? an emphatic no! that's just how the cookie crumbles. |
Pay rise?
Hello there,
GFA will not increase salaries as long as they keep finding people to fly their planes. With the non typed policy/bond of last few years, the number of resignations reduced (correct me if I'm wrong, if you have hard data), so I think the salary and the allowances will continue the same. Unless there is an exodus like the Ozzie migration for EK a couple of years ago, company will not change anything. The salary increments are very welcome, by the way and I think it is of general opinion, that if the company fixes: - housing allowances, - schooling allowances, GF package becomes more realistic and attractive to bring someone to the sandpit. Food for thought. My watchman has 2 kids back in Kerala... LNB |
