Flying into Mumbai?
|
“We have to do scheduled maintenance for the main runway (09-27) at least twice a week. If the secondary runway is not usable we cannot do that,” said the official. Um....did I miss something?? WHAT maintenance? OK, maybe some of the taxiways and aprons get worked on (usually to repair the p*ss-poor work from the previous repairs), but what about FIXING that crappy corrugated excuse of a main runway...!! :ugh: It always makes me laugh after touch-down or during the acceleration before blasting off sky-ward at a few of the select passengers are being wiggled and jiggled about, all bouncy-bouncy. They must be grateful for their Wonder-Bra's with the condition THAT runway is in! :p FIX YOUR RUNWAY, MUMBAI! (And the lack of radio discipline of the users who flog about your wobbly runway...!...and...and...and...) :ugh: Veddy good chaps...now back to your regularly scheduled program... Cheers, R.D. PS: While you are cleaning up, how about ridding yourself from asking that archaic "Confirm 206 THROUGH SECURITY?" question! I can't count how many times I want to scream back "No, Mr. Patel, there are 154 through security. The other 52 scampered through your broken-down fence AND WE INVITED THEM TO JOIN US for a wee FLIGHT!!" Bloody git! OF COURSE THEY ARE (allegedly) SECURITY CHECKED!!! YEESH!! What an archaic, silly question! :ugh: :ugh: :ugh: |
been into the viskey there ray??? Valking Johnney??:ok:

Hello Ray,
I didn't want to tell you here or now, but I guess it would be appropriate to show you the nice sticker I got for you as your Eid gift. :} http://images.cafepress.com/product/...x150_Front.JPG Excellent quality vinyl, hand-made in India, I thought it would look just swell on your flight bag. :) P.S. I've actually been tempted to make the fence remark but how would I explain the subsequent 3 hour departure delay to my C.P.? :ooh: |
VABB continues to amaze. They keep complaining about how they are restricted by having to use a single runway, yet airports such as EGKK can handle more than double the traffice with the same handicap.
The next issue is, apparently, lack of stands, etc., yet both IA and AI are happily operating wrecking yards. Surely one could dismantle old a/c at some unused air base instead of in the middle of what is already a congested international airport? |
More than once I've been vectored all over the place-- the controllers obviously up to their eyeballs with more airplanes and weather than they can handle.
Yet there is a pretty little NDB on the localizer to runway 27. While vectoring is great on some days to keep the flow up, isn't a possible solution to stack them, and descend each one 1000' when the previous is cleared for the approach on days when weather is not cooperating or he's trying to get departures out? I think the Mumbai controllers enjoy "flying" the airplanes all over the countryside. |
Least nobody stole the localizer antenna this year...(yet):}
and PJ, I want one of those stickers as well..... |
Fat chance, IB. I own all o'them stickers now...lock, stock, and Viskey Barrel. :p
Yes, PJ has a point(y head) about stacking. VABB, listen up! Oh...wait...too much lacking-radio-discipline going on...I forgot...YOU CAN'T HEAR these PLEADINGS! *sigh* ~R.D. |
