EK class dates
Hey there....
I have a question for you folks...... I have an interview in the beginning part of Oct. and was wondering what kind of time frame I could expect from the day that I interview to a potential class date. Are we talking a few months, weeks, days???? The reason I ask is that I am getting married in the end of Nov. The wedding is already planned and for the most part paid. If I were to get hired what would the company more than likely want me to do? Would they conceiveably give me a class date after my wedding or would they make me cancel all plans??? I know it's all hypothetical but it is weighing on my mind!!!! Anybody with some insight as to what I could expect from the company?? |
These days I think you're probably in a position to tell them when YOU'RE ready to start.

Even with the ball in their court, just tell them in the interview.....they are very accomodating when it comes to things like that...remember "Happy Wife, Happy Career"
Good Luck. :ok: |
I think Emirates takes the portion from your online application regarding your availability timeframe fairly seriously. If you said you need one month notice for a class date, then one month is what is expected of you. However, I agree with previous posters- Emirates is playing catch up with recruitment so I think they'll be willing to work with you on a class date. Just be sure to mention it in the interview.

The other thing that you may not be aware of is the normal notice period for companies outside of the USA. While you may be thinking along the lines of a two week notice, which is the norm in the USA, in Europe 3 months seems to be standard. EK routinely get 3 month notice periods and that, by the way, is what they expect you to give when you leave.

When you arrive in Dubai, you will receive a paper copy of your online application. You will have the opportunity to make any updates or corrections (flight time, etc.). At that opportunity you can adjust your availability date. If you tell them two days, they will expect you to be here in three. If you tell them thirty days, that is what they want, and if you tell them three months, that too will be what they expect. I told them sixty days, they gave me sixty. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks for the responses.... much appreciated!!!
