Looking for Aussies!
 

Hello all!

I am from Australia and am thinking of working over in Jeddah or Riyadh to do some flying. I got the idea from a friend of mine who is working there (in a different role in aviation) and I was curious as to the processes involved in converting my Aussie licence and basically how conditions are over there.

Would love to hear from some fellow Aussies who have made the move in the past.:ok:

French national shot and killed in Riyadh 2 days ago...a Brit national shot and killed in Jeddah a week ago....

Like JS says, more fun and games in Baghdad...at least you can get a beer up there.

I work for a VIP Business Aviation company in Jeddah.

With Saudisation there is an increasing drive to employ fewer foreigners though turnover here tends to be quite high for obvious reasons.

Packagers here vary enormously depending on usual factors such as rating, but also others like the private or general aviation, there are many small fleets (primarily family) managed by their own departments.

I was being genuine as I really had no idea what the situation would be like in "those areas". However after the latest developments I can see that it may not be such a wise move!;)

My friend also told me that Australian pilots were not flavour of the month now as a whole bunch up and left! One can only imagine why!:rolleyes:

Depends what sort of kit your rated for!

Things on the ground are not as bad as they seem and if you can fly smaller jets the month on, month off can prove attractive, especially as most tend to spend the summer in Europe anyway.

People here are leaving, but in terms of aviation the places are being filled and mainly from UK and Australia.
