A300XA320 at QR!

For those guys that are flying at QR, with the experience you have now, wich plane you suggest for who are joining now, the A300 or A320.
Many guys are having this doubt.

Thanks for the replies.

All depends buddy!!! Both work S@%T hard as does the rest of the family. Mind if you dont want to be stuck in Doha you may want to consider the A300 as it still has a large number of layovers around the network. Also it will eventually be faded out as the last of the A330's arrive so there may be an oppurtunity of upgrading to that!
Of course....im just a servant at the aft so Ill let the real fly boys tell advise you best! :ok:

I thought that you get what rating you have. Do you have one of those two? If you don't why are you allowed to apply? I have an A320 rating and still haven't heard anything. Anyone knows more?

Thnks Apaddyinuk :)

Dani, I don't have either of the type rates but many non type rated guys including myself had made the interview process and were sloted to the A300 but due to a shortage on courses for that equipment they are offering the A320.

This is the information I asked 'cause many guys in this situation want more information to take the decision.

satndalone,
It at this time QR employing crew that are type rated on the type they are current on ie. if you are current in A320 you get on 320 and so on BUT ..... if you are not typed on ant of the types they have but you have the reqiured time then you get on A330 ...... Which is unfair to those that already there on A300 or A320

the company policy is that they are saving money on the expence of the crew that if they take direct entry pilots on the A330 then they dont have to pay for two ratings ie. the guys already flying on the other types

anyway this should ansewr your question .....

Best of luck :ok:

You dont undesrtand me, never mind.

How difficult is to explain myself in this forum.
Probably my english is much worst than I imagine...:yuk:

Let it roll...

I would say it all depends what you want.

If you like layovers and LH flying....wait for the A300

If you would rather be home a little bit more and you like to be typerated on a modern machine, internationally demanded....take the 320

But since you are saying you have none of the types....I would say go for the A320 type rating! Its worth a lot more on the market whilst a A300 type is worth bullocks!

A320 type is gold mate!!!Just check the number of joboffers around! And after all, you never know whats going to happen with you personally here....No offence but thats the truth. Its a hard world outhere, you have to protect yourself...

Up to you Habibi.:E

What i understood from forum that you want to know what is the best fleet to aply for if you are not type rated on any of the A/C that QR has ....... if this what you meant then i didnt say anything confusing ...... what i meant is if you are not type rated on any of the A/C QR has then you have no CHOICE YOU HAVE TO GO TO A330 OR A320 ...A300 is not avail. to non type rated pilots any more

And if my english is that bad and didnt understand what you meant then accept my appollogy

All the best ,,,,:ok:

Qatari 515 thnks for your tips.:ok:
But in the end they decided for us. We going to the A300.

Part_A , My question was not for aply, I had already passed by the interview process. The indefinition was to join the fleet.
Zero strees. You said they won't get more non type-rate guys. Was not the information I had in Doha.

You can interview on any fleet. You can sit in the simulator with the A330 Deputy chief, or come and interview with the A-300 Chief or even interview on the A-320.

GUESS WHAT?????.........................It does not make a bit of difference, you will get hired where they see fit at the time to send you.............

If you are type rated or current in the A330, A-300 or A-320 chances are you will join the appropriate fleet you are current or typed on. Other than that if you are flying a 737 or 767 or MD-80 you could go ANYWHERE they want to send you. You may also get a call that you have been selected for the A-300 and when you get here you are sent to a different fleet ( A-320 or A-330)

If you like it at the time you are told, fine then you are welcome to stay. If you don't like the fleet you will be sent to then, HALLAS you can go back home.

Sorry to tell you this but the organization of the pilots on the fleets is not aligned very well and these guys don't have a clue. It is the old school thinking and practice of "fill the seats we are short in at the time."

I hope this answers your question "For those guys that are flying at QR, with the experience you have now, wich plane you suggest for who are joining now, the A300 or A320."

THERE IS NO CHOICE REALLY................... and if they call you with a choice, caution to you, it might change when you arrive.

Good luck
