Pets in Dubai
 

I would greatly appreciate if someone could give me any info for bringing pets to Dubai.

Planning to move there very soon and my daughter wants to bring her cat. Is there any rules or regulations about pets?

I am fairly sure that the regs have not changed which would mean no quarantine however all your cats vaccinations would have to be up to date. A call to your local vet would do the trick as he/she would have the latest regs. We have a dog and the summer temp aside I would say Dubai is not dog friendly. All beaches now out of bounds, etc. However unless your daughter likes to walk her cat on the beach I think Dubai would be fine for her cat. That said the "signs" don't mention cats. Maybe I could cross dress my dog in my cat suit. Easiest way is to pay a few dirhams and get an agency (pet shop) to organize the entry for you. We did and dog was delivered to the house a few hours after our arrival. Cheers

Agriculture and fisheries office is behind the main building on clock tower round about in Deira, First floor.

They will let you know what documentation you will require from your country and give you the form to fill in.

When you have all that drop it back to them, pay a few dirhams, and a day later you have an import permit for the animal.

That is valid for a week or so, and gives you a window to work with.

Once the pet arrives at cargo village locate the airport resident vet (far end of CV) and get him to sign off the arrival paper work.

It's worth registering the cat with the municipality and making sure it has a collar with your contact details so if it does go walkabout you are more likely to get it back. We bought a cat when we arrived and have found the vets bills to be about what we would have paid in England, so that is probably a bit more expensive than Canada but it shouldn't break the bank.

Hi Skywalker, the easiest way to do it is contact Dubai kennels and cattery in Dubai, they will do all the paper work and running around for you - all you will have to do is pick up the little fluffy one at the airport. You can even organise to have her/him booked on the same flight as you. Their tel number is 0097142851614 and website address is dkc.ae

2. Continue to live with cat.

Is anybody interested in giving a home to a Dalmatian puppy. The dog is a 12 month (approx.) old male, has a nice personality and has a black back with typical Dalmatian markings on the lower half - looks a bit like an upside down camouflage job :D

the sad thing is that the dog will have to be destroyed if I cant find a home soon. I have another 2 dogs, one of which has just come on heat and the randy Dalmatian is going crazy.
He came to us as a stray (yet another) a month or so ago but nobody seems interested in taking on new pets at this time of year. He is too nice a dog to have put down but i am rapidly running out of choices.

Perhaps the dalmation could apply for the recently vacated position of head of HR at Qatar Airways! He would do a far better job than the previous guy, if what's said on this forum is even only half accurate.

Plenty of pets mate, Dubai is a pet city by excellence, and you'll have to get used to it, particularly if you are going to be flying from here, you'll need another pet to look after the first one and then a third one to look after the 2nd one etc.......
Told you! It's a pet city!

In the same vein, are there any problems with taking dogs to Bahrain?

I believe the Dubai voluntary free fall record is four(4) floors for a mog,vet bills were huge of course. :{
