UAE GCAA Medical for Pilots

Hello, Can anyone guide in detail about the GCAA class 1 medical requirements for pilots. or is there any GCAA website link for guidance. How much are the doctors in Dubai or Sharjah lenient or strict compared to other parts of the world.

TIA

If you Google GCAA publication “CAAP 19” the requirements are listed. I can only compare the GCAA renewal to the U.K., and in my experience the GCAA is far more strict.

I am also interested in this.

I have a UK C1 and recently did an Initial EASA C1. I passed but my eye sight is on one of the limits. I have a “lazy eye”, and my eye sight is -1.00.

It hasn’t been mentioned in any of my UK C1 renewals before so I was a bit surprised.

But can you reach 6/9 with both eyes? That's the minima.

Yes no issues with that.

My eyes aren’t perfectly aligned when looking straight ahead. That’s the limit I am on when I had my initial EASA C1. Everything else it’s fine.

I say they were quite reasonable (it was in SHJ). Had an unusual reading during the initial UAE medical, was told to come back in a few days. I was expecting further testing (as I did in another country) but days later they called me to pick up my medical with no hassle. Months later I found out they sent the report to a specialist, he reviewed my case and decided to grant me class I with no questions. He told me it was a normal variant. That was 7 years ago.

I had done my initial GCAA class 1 last year. Was told an RXO limitation (Special eye tests yearly) to be put on the license due to an eye deviation.

however this year, my AME adviced that my deviation is minimal and I do not need a limitation and asked me to go to a specialist eye doc to ask him to give his report to remove this limitation. However when i went to one specialist he deemed me unfit saying im outside limits.

i then went to the same eye specialist I went to last year for my initial and she says she agrees with my AME that the deviation is now minimal and Rxo can be removed as I dont need yearly tests. As my AME now has contradicting reports from 2 gcaa approved specialists (my AME agrees with the doctor saying I have no condition and RXO to be removed) he sent my reports to GCAA to decide. Has anyone gone through something like this? Any feedback will be suggested thanks

Hello, how did your story ended with the GCAA?
Do they allow to be hired in a UAE company with an RXO?

Hello everyone :ok:, I would like to know if someone can tell me how long it takes for the GCAA to issue the medical certificate since the status is "In Process with GCAA". Thank you
