desert witch

Not only !
at least if you were captain you come back as such, sadly on a much lower pay, but captain
senority didn’t have value anyway.
but what’s about FOs who worked there ass off to have a career finally made it throu the stupid interview and suddenly lost everything towards a command. Now if some consider to come back they start at absolutely zero as nothing of the previous (their thousands of hours) is counting for them. Again FOs have taken the hardest hit in all that ****. Beside lossing maybe a higher salary they lost also their career and have to go another 5 plus years finding themselves next to somebody not even having half the time just being lucky enough not having lost the job.
And on top 6 month is chosen to make sure nobody can pass by the selection which of course will not reflect your previous record.

pay is pretty much the same as before
just starting in the lowest step no increases to be expected ever again
company accom or from October on allowance for married couples, which is reduced by 15% to the previous. Schooling is the same.
Not sure about medical - employee class A cover - we know what that means - basic for spouse and children, premium payed by employee

donpizmeov 20th Aug 2021 09:25

It looks like first year Capt package for skippers. First year FO package for FOs. New staff number doj. Accommodation is the same as all other pilots.
So same contract just bottom of the scale.

Just to clarify, the reference that was to 'married couples', was apparently referring to both individuals being employed by EK. At present, if both in a couple are employed by EK, they are only entitled to receive one accommodation allowance and it is this policy that is due to change. I have seen nothing official to confirm this but a colleague who has been here considerably longer than I have, said that this is the case.

BigGeordie 24th Aug 2021 06:49

Are the redundant guys coming back being bonded again?

Fired600 24th Aug 2021 09:30

Would be an interesting one since they are already A380 rated, no B777 redundant pilots have been recalled.

Fuel-Off 24th Aug 2021 13:20

Were they made redundant or fired? The difference could be the reason why they haven't been called back.

Fired600 24th Aug 2021 21:01

600+ made redundant on 777. No B777 guys recalled fired/redundant or otherwise.

Mach_Krit 25th Aug 2021 04:56

600? The number I heard was 200 on the triple. Even one colleague fired is one colleague too much, but 600 does seem a bit exaggerated

BigGeordie

Pure speculation on my part but I would think not. However, the situation is fluid and we have seen in the past that if you poke the bear you will get a reaction. Accordingly if they see a number of guys returning and just doing the training and resigning shortly thereafter, I think you may find a policy shift going forward. I seem to recall that was the reason for the introduction of the upgrade bond - a number of people resigning the day after being given the extra stripe.

Mach_Krit

I wish it was but it is was indeed around the 600 mark.

Mercuzio77 25th Aug 2021 09:21

Let’s not spread wrong figures. 777 guys made redundant were around 200 as BigGeordie said.

Fired600 25th Aug 2021 15:54

If it’s 380 or 777, the totals are even more horrendous with the totals made redundant in the 1500 mark. The bus you drove is semantics, not a single 777 pilot has been recalled.

White Knight 25th Aug 2021 18:36

Being semantic, no 380 terminated pilots have been recalled either! They've only had 'EOI' emails!

And to be quite blunt, there will be several of those 380 pilots who's expression of interest replies will be ignored... I imagine there's a sh1t-list on both fleets!

Fired600 25th Aug 2021 19:09

That’s an email more than any 777 guy.it shows intent and is a carrot more than the 777 donkey got so far.
As for the s list, yup 110%

Emma Royds 25th Aug 2021 23:59

I know this will be a delicate point but out of everyone that was made redundant, there will be some that were selected for a reason and others that were selected on a more random basis. I would hazard a guess that only those in the latter category are likely to be asked if they would be interested in returning. The company was ruthless in how they selected people for redundancy and I don't expect them to be any more benevolent in how they select those for any potential recall.

On the topic of workload, July was one of my busiest months since I ever joined and I was knee-deep in productivity. A sign of things to come? :*
