Service suspensions
Does anyone know if EK crews are getting stuck downroute when a service has been suspended? Or are they being positioned back to DXB and if so, how? On the aircraft they took? Or is EK sending empty aircraft the next day?

Just received news that services between Austria and the following will be suspended
We have just been advised that layovers in Europe will be avoided as far as possible to ensure crews are not caught by travel bans. |

With the likes of Italy and Poland, the outbound EK crew has deadheaded back on the same aircraft, after operating the outbound sector. |

Nearly 24 hours since you posted about an imminent shutdown of UAE airports @Airbubba. More fake news or do you have some substance to your comment?

They denied the rumor of shutting down on “March 17th”. They did not deny the possibility altogether just that the originator got the date wrong.

The flights will not stop with money to be made, unless the destination country stops inbound international flights.
2nd flight to Oz this month and both nearly full, with 12 in 1st. That alone probably covered the flight costs. |

Tribune News Network Doha From stopping all incoming flights to shutting all public transport services, Qatar announced a series of major announcements on Sunday aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus in the country. The announcements came after the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani chaired a meeting of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management. All the decisions were taken based on the Amir’s directive. The measures were announced at a press conference attended by MoFA spokesperson Lolwah al Khater and other officials. Khater said no incoming flights to Doha will be allowed to touch down in Doha for a period of 14 days from Wednesday evening. The embargo will be reviewed after the two-week period. However, air cargo and transit flights, in addition to any flight with Qatari citizens coming from any destination in the world, will be allowed. Those coming on such flights will be in quarantine for two weeks. From another news report: Announcing the Amir’s directives at a press conference, Spokesperson of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management HE Lolwah al Khater, said as part of precautionary measures to combat the the virus, all inbound flights to Doha will be suspended from Wednesday (March 18) and all public transport services, including Metro and Karwa buses, will be shut from Sunday 10pm. |
Ok, so it seems the closure is for Qatar and not the UAE.

Qatar Airways will continue to fly normally. The only restriction is that passengers are not allowed to have Doha as their final destination (except for Qatari Nationals). Only passengers with conecting flights will be accepted and able to transit through Hamad International Airport.

Passenger flights in and out of the UAE will be suspended from Wednesday, March 25, for two weeks, the General Civil Aviation Authority said.
