I'm not sure GF would be audited by the FAA? - maybe the Bahrain CAA? They just passed IOSA audit. 787 seem busy seen one 1 engine change myself.

from what I’ve heard they’re trying to snag a FAA approval for some odd reason. Also they seem to not have stocked enough 787 engine spare parts. Not sure how far it is true but a very reliable source

if they are applying for traffic rights to the USA

Very sure that they are applying for traffic rights Incase Bahrain strikes a deal with a US based oil company they’d want a direct link to that city.
I hope no 787’s get grounded since they’re spread very thin now

around 2015 I was hearing talk in the GFHQ Building about "when the 787's come GF will start routes into
US etc etc".

Airmann 8th Jun 2019 18:40

Both GF and the airport would have to pass FAA audits in order to be allowed to fly to the US. The airport has experience with UA which flew in there for a number of years. Hey if Air India can get approval, anyone can get approval.

PanAmFalcon 10th Jun 2019 08:56

true if air India could get it anyone can but the current administration is not fond of middle easter carriers owned by the government entering into their market. Also if gf has trouble paying dues to BAS, I think another cost cutting measure will be in place soon. Hope nothing but the best for gf thou.
