The end of Saudia Private Aviation

With a history going back decades as Special Flight Services, they are finally getting out of the 135 charter business. All of the 7X aircraft were sold to Planet 9 in the USA and are pending delivery. All of the 7X Pilots were given two months notice of termination.
The Hawker 400 might keep plodding along for a short while.
Sad to see this happen, unfortunately the Al Bayraq experiment was an expensive failure.

So nothing in SFS, except the Hawker's you mentioned, will exist anymore?

Nope, the Hawkers are also for sale, with only 1 or 2 left in service. SPA shall continue as a FBO, but as the majority of their custom was for their own flights, it will be interesting to see how long this lasts.

Royal Continues...? With the old Gulfstreams?

mutt 6th Oct 2018 20:00

The old Gulfstream’s were retired in 2014, they were later purchased and flown in 2017 to the USA, with the exception of AFW.
Royal Operate 3 x G300 aircraft for the Ministry of Finance, but this is a local only part of the airline with only 2 expats allowed to remain there.

What about Privatair (Saudi Arabia) that purchased stacke in SPA few years ago ?
Did they really "BUY" a stake? They might have talked about it but never actively brought anything to the table.
The A319 is operated by PrivateAir Switzerland, who are happily operating a contracted service that is making a loss on most flights, however they are flying ACMI so passenger loads don't mean anything to them.

I'm sorry but I need to be filled in as to what the topic refers to.

I have seen the Saudi Private Aviation hangar many times on Jeddah Airport. Has that entire division been dissolved?

mutt 23rd Oct 2018 09:09

Nope, the FBO, handling and maintenance shall continue.
