EK cadet programme

The investment for the 21 month programme is US$ 250,000, and includes the full academic programme, accommodation, meals, visas and other related expenses. Please confirm your commitment to the investment
Can anyone in the know please confirm whether this astronomical sum even leads to a job with emirates?

cerbus 4th Jun 2018 18:32

No it doesn’t guarantee anything and do you really want to work for Emirates?

givemewings 4th Jun 2018 18:34

No, just like doing a course at EAC doesn't ean you get a job as dispatcher, engineer or whatever.

It's basically just a fancy way for people to learn to fly and for EK to make some money. Don't confuse it with the actual cadet program for nationals, they're ot the same thing. I asked about it when they had the stand at DXB airshow

EFTA does not equal EK the airline. But I bet they hope the not so smart ones dont realise that, and plunk down the money

$250,000 and 21 months for a GCAA CPL/IR and a couple of hundred hours?

SOPS 5th Jun 2018 02:52

And no job at the end!

sluggums 5th Jun 2018 04:59

...and is transferable to another state?

Officer Kite 5th Jun 2018 09:52

To transfer to EASA at least, you would need to resit the 14 ATPL subject examinations. As far as I can see there is little use for this license without transferring it to another authority.

I cannot understand this $250,000, I'm mindboggled. it's double even the most expensive European cadet programmes (that actually include a job) for no job at all.

givemewings 5th Jun 2018 12:08

My guess is its aimed at locals/Gulf to keep/bring the money in the country, then they can pick the ones they like as cadets and make them an offer.

Side bonus of catching the "vanity market" ie those who don't want to go to Europe/US and want the "prestige" of going to the "EK" training academy... even though it's not really EK at all in that sense

Officer Kite 5th Jun 2018 12:28

It's funny because EK themselves don't even send their cadets to the EFTA, they're in oxford!

Joker11 5th Jun 2018 23:37

That should be a enough of a sign.

Officer Kite

It's perfectly understandable and reflective of Emirates and Dubai. Take a product, multiply the fair value cost by a factor of 2,3,4,........10 and then sell it. Pretend it's the best around, but those who are around, know it is very substandard at best. Those who aren't around get caught in the hype and bluff and overpay for a poor product/service.

It's a brilliant model that won't fail........
