I’ve just read the latest safety publication and have say with respect to the EK mentioned events I’m flabbergasted.
Based on what was published, there seems in both cases to be a distinct lack of suspicion and airmanship when it came to ATC instructions and intentions.
Whatever happened to informing ATC of your requirements rather than what they want?
Yet again it seems blind adherence and poor SA led two sets of crews up the garden path so to speak without either of them seemingly capable of aviating rather than operating.

But isn’t that the whole problem here? Crews fearing for their future become conditioned to blindly adhering to anything they’re told. Confidence is only as strong as your job is secure, you might say. Which only exacerbates the problem as the fist tightens it’s grip when incidents happen and people become more fearful.

A quick look at the augmenting Captain's roster reveals a string of 'Absent' days for nearly the last month, which one normally doesn't see after such an event and irrespective of if they stay or leave the company.

Good luck to him if there is any truth to the rumour that he went to Europe to seek legal assistance.

Well there will always be a driver / pilot who will do it for less......:ouch:

But supporting that kind of "business" ?

Advanced apologies for drift... but gotta add that there's nothing stopping Uber patrons from using the fare saved to support said underemployed driver doing it for less. Speaking of that, perhaps EK cabin and flight crew should put out a tip jar. Or even better... obtain a nice shiny church style collection plate and start passing it around a few min before TOD while reminding passengers over PA that financially secure pilots are safer pilots.
Anyway...
Thanks for coming, I'll be here all week, be sure to tip the Costa barista.

Don't think there are many entry level pilot positions on the A380 in Europe. What part of the A380 does he work on?

Emma Royds 25th Jun 2018 20:48

BA have certainly taken new F/Os straight onto the 380 but I can't comment for LH or AF.

There are no DEC positions at LH on any fleet. And also no F/O straight onto longhaul fleets.

Portuguese operator perhaps? Good luck to him. I hope it works out well.

I'd heard he got a job with TUI; left seat 737...

I thought Hi-Fly didn't take the A380.
