EASA typerating elapsed
 

I got my Typerating added to my U.K. EASA license based on more than 500 hours on type and currently flying the A/C. My LPC has expired by more than 4 years.
My understanding is if you are currently flying the same type and with a foreign LPC can still add the rating back onto your U.K. License,without additional sim sessions.
I find it waste of money to pay for a LPC and medical every year to stay current. Appreciate feedback from any pilots in the sandpit.

I'm keeping my TR alive on my Irish license by sending them a copy of the local LPC form after every LPC and they in turn issue a new rating page with the updated LPC date although they do restrict it to A6 reg aircraft only.

If you want it on your EASA license (unrestricted from A6- only airframes) you need to do a LST in a EASA approved sim, with an EASA approved TRE.

You have answered your own question correctly. You are exempt from any training before doing another LPC if you are flying the same type on a recognised ICAO third party license. If you think about it you didn't require training before the initial EASA LPC to put the rating on the license so why would you need any now ?

Sky Hooker, did you ever have the type rating in your EASA without any restrictions? In other words did you ever do an LST (skills test)? If you only ever had the type rating endorsed in your EASA licence, as a foreign country type rating WITH the restriction to that carrier/country, you would need to do an LST to get the restriction removed.

““C. ACCEPTANCE OF CLASS AND TYPE RATINGS
1. A valid class or type rating contained in a licence issued by a third country may be inserted in a Part-FCL licence provided that the applicant:
(a) complies with the experience requirements and the prerequisites for the issue of the applicable type or class rating in accordance with Part-FCL;
(b) passes the relevant skill test for the issue of the applicable type or class rating in accordance with Part-FCL;
(c) is in current flying practice;
(d) has no less than:
(i) for aeroplane class ratings, 100 hours of flight experience as a pilot in that class;
(ii) for aeroplane type ratings, 500 hours of flight experience as a pilot in that type;

Yes I did my UK EASA skill test LPC back in 2012 on the relevant type,however haven't kept up with conducting a LPC every year on my UK license.
Flying currently the Type and as pr company standard in the Sin Bin every 6 months for the PC/LPC under my foreign license.

Gottcha. If you already did an EASA skills test and had it unrestricted in you EASA licence, I guess an LPC only makes sense.

It would help if you mentioned which type rating you require to renew as I can help with A320 or A330.
