And the pax were held up for........10 MINUTES!! - clearly a life threatening situation.......

according to their website, AKL flight is cancelled due to technical reasons.

The technical reason was that the LDG did not extend so a gravity extension procedure had to be carried out for landing in MEL. ENG did not find the exact cause, even after draining the fluid etc. Probably wear and tear of the HYD system (?)

EK 407 was delayed by a couple of hours due to Mx but departed just before 16/34 closed. Happy ending !

Low hyd fluid quantity messages on both systems. So, pumps off, which necessitated the gravity extension.
It appears to have been the magic electric pixies playing games, as Ps &Ts were normal.
