EK informational 21st KLVS

anyone got any info on this... Do I need to sign up for the event or can I just show up?
Roadshows and Pilot information sessions | Explore our Careers | Emirates Group Careers Centre

do i have to sign up with FAPA aero ? the post from emirates makes it look like you just walk in.

Kapitanleutnant 20th Apr 2017 04:11

Seriously??? You want to go to an EK Roadshow???

Have you not read a single thread on this forum about the Evils of EK???

4runner 20th Apr 2017 04:23

Dude, you realize Atlas is there too. You can work for atlas and live in the Middle East and have more time off in the Middle East than if you worked for Emirates. That's a true statement as assisine as that sounds...

Toledo 20th Apr 2017 07:16

Do you need to walk in?

Just pass by displaying your pilot's license and you'll be dragged in!

soakingpilot 20th Apr 2017 09:31

So basically none of you guys have the answer.

* Atlas does not give you a visa to live there

Thanks.

If you would like to attend one of the Emirates information sessions, please arrive at the venue of your convenience, on time.

So rather than telling us how marvellous it is at EK and if we don't like it leave, taking no notice of other threads and saying its better than a regional (since edited I see), how about reading what it says on the site you posted before you ask us to help you out with!!!!

Correct and when you go to the FAPA aero site who is hosting it they say that they require you to be a member to attend. HMMM conflicting information. Hence a question on forum site where someone who may know the information can post it. :D

Anything else you care to scream about?

If you are single, no experience, got a licence, can speak english (just), willing to work to the max, getting little time off, spend all your time on whats app, take loads of selfies and fly big shiny jets (yippee) then you'll fit in with all the other newbies / dudes who are turning up now! If that sounds great then this is the place for you .......

And yes I sincerely doubt that working for EK is worse than a regional in the USA. That would take allot for me to believe.

Instant Hooligan 20th Apr 2017 10:21

Done both, EK is worse but like you say it would be hard for you to believe, so see you soon!

Yes working allot OK I completely understand that. But honestly getting paid to do mainline flying at 34K a year is better than flying a 777 to interesting places and getting paid Im guessing around 4X at least to do it?

I mean there is a tradeoff there but honestly.

Yes the tradeoff is you live in the Middle East. Good luck.

soakingpilot 20th Apr 2017 10:57

I do love the sarcasm thats used here but nobody is answering anything that Im writing just telling me Im wrong so ill consider the original question closed.

Now though would you honestly prefer then to make 34K in the US flying mainline routes? If so then why not do it or another equivalent? As well I specifically said there is a tradeoff. IE yes at EK you work hard but get paid hard.
Here at the regional you can potentially work hard and get paid nothing. So I ask again if the tradeoff between the two doesn't cancel out.
Seamen you also clearly didnt read my post and blurted out that garbage about taking 30 seconds. Moreover you seem to not actually work at EK so why are you even here besides not contributing and building the muscle on your shift and #1 key fingers?

soakingpilot 20th Apr 2017 10:58

** all of this from just asking about an informational session.

sigh

I have actually thanks for asking... I wonder if you have or had before?

Still waiting for a single person to actually say anything of actual value instead of just pilot BS

SOPS 20th Apr 2017 14:47

Seaman doesn't work for EK.? Now that is funny.

natops 20th Apr 2017 16:43

Perfect material for ek...

Join and lighten the burden.
The money you think you will earn, is taken away outof yr account in a heartbeat.

High inflation, coming taxes, no life, no vacation, but dont let it stop you.
No company email without telling you that you will be punished if you dont obey, all the good stuff.

Enos 20th Apr 2017 19:55

Hey Soaking

If you want to come, come! Give it a try, it's not for everybody for sure! but for some it works well, others it doesn't, I've been here long enough to understand it, some of my friends have landed on their feet and others have landed on their Ar$e.

In training at EK they say they don't spoon feed you! They don't! The info is in the books if you can't be bothered to find it you fail.

The info for you is out there.

They are taking some really good guys with minimum experience, they are running road shows where I've read on here 3 people have turned up, now I'm sure if you turn up and can walk in a straight line present yourself as a pilot but have not registered, someone from recruitment will give you the time of day.

Do your homework its not all good here!! And it's not all bad!! There are not 4000+ pilots venting their frustration on here daily, like any company the revolving door does spin!

Open your eyes, keep them open and good luck.

Soak,

Put on a tie and go see what they say. Be prepared to listen to an inordinate amount of BS but there may be a fact or two as well. Do read all the posts in the ME forum here going back at least 10 years, if you believe 10% of it and you are sane, you should run away screaming!

Right now I would suggest that you are short sighted in chasing shiny jets and exotic destinations. 100 hours of mostly night flying will make you quickly understand the frustration we all face by being here. What is not easy to accept is that it is extremely difficult to fit back into the system in the USA, Canada or even Europe after being out for so many years. There are other things that you'll sell your soul for to get here that you will later regret and you cant get that back.

Your 35K job in the USA can quickly turn into 125K plus in the right seat of a major and will go up in spades from there...If it were me, I'd pursue that avenue without question and enjoy a good union contract and laws in place to protect you, things that you will never see here.

The Outlaw 20th Apr 2017 20:54

These used to be stickies? Where did they go?

Here is how recruitment might work!

Yes the new airport hotel in FRA, located under the approach path, nowhere near any pork knuckle, sporting soap dispensers in the bathroom, is indeed....interesting...

Not that the hotels in FRA were any good to start with but this takes the cake.

MacSheikh 21st Apr 2017 12:53

Thread creep.....

There's no point in bitching about it here. If it's not fit for purpose- write it up.

Put up or shut up
