EK Opt out help needed

I'm in the midst of opting out from company accommodation. I broke rule number one and bought off plan about a year ago, have been liaising with the accommodation department since then. If you have a Title Deed its 15-30 days notice to move out, no changes to that since the January "ban" on moving out, and finally the villa was completed last month. Happy days! Right?

The company refused to accept the Oqood and insisted I produce a Title Deed.

At considerable expense I had the Title Deed expedited. The company is now refusing the Title Deed as it says "Land" not "Villa or Apartment".

Has anyone had this experience?

Apparently, it won't be changed from Land to Villa until the entire development is complete, which will be at least a year.

Any thoughts on how to combat this problem?

PM's, Posts, whatever. I'm pulling (whats left) of my hair out!

This is interesting....

My title deed property type says Land as well :ooh:

The villa we have has been completed for years and you're telling me they are denying you the allowance?

Please follow up and let us know what transpires.

Bypass the muppets at Accomodation Dept and go straight to top of HR... that worked for me years ago.

Don't waste your time with the accommodation dept.

I'm sorry for your frustration, I totally feel for you.
for what's it's worth, just checked my title deed, 6 yr old
Villa, and it also says " LAND"
you need to speak to someone higher than these muppets

Thanks for the info. Especially about other Titles only saying "land"..

Some more ammunition, shall it be needed.

Thanks for the PM's. Some good info there too.

Tomorrow is another day. I shall keep this updated.

Sanity has prevailed.

Not sure if it was the 3 hours I sat waiting in the reception area, only to be sent home without actually getting to see anyone. I was however, able to converse via phone via the receptionist, and via email, while i was sitting and waiting. A sure sign of the respect the accommodation department has for Captains in this airline..

I ended up sending through the Building Completion certificate and the Property Valuation Report that was done for the mortgage. The latter contained a description of the Villa along with photos. Along with sitting in reception for 3 hours, this got the ball rolling.

Frustratingly, because it seems people believe you really can make this sh!t up, they next requested a signed and stamped Property Purchase Document and a signed and stamped financial document proving that I had indeed paid for the property.

Those were sent in the morning, and the opt out approved in the afternoon.

Moral of the story? Their job is to process requests. Not to help. Its not personal. Its just the way it is.
