Champagne to Budweiser

How many, when, and who is going to re-train them?

Interesting info for sure, the other big question is how many more will now resign? :E

bigdaviet 13th Mar 2017 11:29

Is this official?

The.Humble.Guy 13th Mar 2017 11:37

For the uninformed, could you decode this riddle? Assuming it's EK related...

Jetkopite 13th Mar 2017 11:46

Im lost guys whats the decode?? lol

Jetkopite 13th Mar 2017 11:57

Well if the rumour that at least 10 380's will be grounded then it will makes sense due to 777 picking up the extra work and already 100's of pilots short on the 777. Who will train these guys is another story.

Time will tell how this huge mess will be sorted out.

bigdaviet 13th Mar 2017 12:02

So nothing official, just a rumour

Monarch Man 13th Mar 2017 13:37

There's unlikely to be anything official, but it is happening, I've seen rosters.

bigdaviet 13th Mar 2017 14:36

What have you seen on the rosters?

5star 13th Mar 2017 15:07

Oops.... I bet they will have a hard time finding motivated guys to fill these slots. More resignations on the way...
Let's see how they do it this time. The number I heard is 100+ guys...

Welcome on the Boeing fleet. It will be a real life changer !!! And not in a good way

glofish 13th Mar 2017 15:17

LOL!!!
Reading all this, at the bottom of the page a EK add popped up saying
"15 cities in 31 days".
Sounds about right, welcome on the working fleet!

airbusgirl66 13th Mar 2017 15:47

Unreal....

Yet, a few months ago, when a bunch of 330/340 four year Captains asked to go to the 777 as a Captain vs go sit right seat on the 380, they said, "No, that's not an option."

Jetkopite 13th Mar 2017 15:57

If they think this will sort out the pilot shortage problem they have another thing coming, the guys on the verge of leaving inc myself will still leave as planned and now you will have upset 380 guys deciding enough is enough...

Just when you thought the beatings might ease up they just keep on coming in full force !!!!!!!!!!

We all know, "the only thing that is constant is change". Esp. at EK....

Isn’t it ironic.

All that talk mitigating any A vs. B drift like “who gives a hoot about what equipment you mount”, “it’s their train set and as long as the money is the same” and “blah, blah, blah” stops right here at the moment a dugongonaut faces the horrible downgrade to something less super.

Suddenly “enough is enough” or “they come in full force”..... :ugh:

Get a grip and regurgitate your earlier arguments.
At least no more fake ROPs, short vectors by ATC become manageable and just imagine, you actually gain in inflight alternates!

At least Glofish gets it. :)

lederhosen 14th Mar 2017 09:26

The glass is half full or half empty. As has been pointed out A380 currency is a bit limited as far as finding other jobs...a 777 rating not so. It depends of course if you are bonded. Without a bond (and previous rating) I would think a few people would be quite happy to improve their marketability.

donpizmeov 14th Mar 2017 09:33

Oh no. 380 fellas can't leave and get another job? That's terrible.

The Turtle 14th Mar 2017 09:55

I would STRONGLY recommend that if you are planning to leave, get your type on another license as well....FAA, EASA, etc...

Gents who are leaving/left have had issues with the GCAA and their future employer

nicosnoko 14th Mar 2017 13:08

All I want is to leave... all I need is 14 more months to have the sufficient PIC time. Oh boy if I move to the triple, it means I have to stay longer (which I would hate) and go through another type rating F### PAM's oriented training, I mean checking.
I'm praying I don't get an email for fleet xfer.

Pls leave me alone....

Life Vest 14th Mar 2017 14:25

The seniority list may just resurface, but not as you would expect, many years ago, when they became critically short of Captains for the A340 introduction, seniority was used to force several 777 Captains over to the dark side.
Only trouble was, it was in reverse seniority, more than 2 years from getting your Command (1 year and 11 months and you were safe).

flareflyer 16th Mar 2017 09:22

So it seems that is really happening.....

Monarch Man 16th Mar 2017 16:25

From the DCPB with loose lips
Which one? The one who thinks using thrust reverse is a sin? Or the one I was trained to shoot down?

Careful Snorkel,

The person to whom you are referring is a decent sort despite the "office title". I'd defend him any day as I have never had any reason to say otherwise. I can't say the same for some of the other people in equivalent positions.
