Akbar Al Baker vs Delta
|

|
When asked if the airline gave enough notice to schedule access to the gate, Gunter Saurwein, Qatar Airways' vice president for the Americas, smiled and said, "In general yes, we gave some lead time that we would be here." When asked if Delta may have deliberately prevented Qatar from using the gate, Sawrwein said, "I do not want to comment on that. We as an airline don't finger point." Qatar Airways Chief Executive Officer Akbar Al Baker branded Delta Air Lines Inc. “wicked” over what he said was the U.S. carrier’s part in ruining the Middle Eastern company’s first flight from Doha to Atlanta. Like petulant children. |
Delta owns the Gate. They payed several billion dollars to have Terminal F build. What did Al Baker expect after comments about "rubbing salt into Deltas wound"?
http://onemileatatime.boardingarea.c...s-atlanta-ceo/ As Delta CEO I'd have parked there a Cessna |
I once had the misfortune of transiting through the old airport in Doha on Qatar. No jetty anywhere, just steps and busses. That happens, what's the big deal?
|
The deal is his ego....
|
So who's going to stop these guys ego?
|
They are all as bad as each other.

The world's largest, busiest, greatest, most magnificent and most American airport needs 60 days notice to handle an A380? Yeah... right. And they have a grand total of ONE code F stand? You gotta be kidding. And what would they prepare for on days 2 to 59 exactly?

Nothing. That's quite all right, because apparently you don't mind ATL being matched or bettered by places like Lagos. No problem at all.
So yes, nothing wrong at all! |
MrMachpointfivefive,
Do you read articles posted by others or just prattle on? "It’s ironic that he’s mentioning “old and frail people” having to walk up “very large steps to get to the terminal” as a violation of the air-services agreement. At his airline’s hub, Doha’s Hamad International Airport, plenty of planes have to board and deplane at remote stands using stairs. What about the “old and frail” people there, Your Excellency?" So Doha makes old and frail people climb up and down steps? By your argument Lagos has a better airport than Doha. There are actually rules, regulations and laws in the US that can't be purchased - that must come as a surprise to al baker. |
Where is the demand for A380 gates in ATL? |
Forget about complex rules of airport scheduling and slot management.
When was the last time you gave up your paid and reserved parking spot for someone who shows up in a large SUV just to show off. Does it matter you have a sub-compact car. In addition you don't like this person and came to grab your business. ATL has to move 4 planes and downgrade 2 to narrow bodies to accommodate one. |
He's gonna have fun with Trump.
