The new EK leave deal

The new leave deal is out. It looks surprising similar to the old leave deal. I suggest you write to Enry and JA to express your disappointment. Also ask what is going to happen to all the extra you have available.

uba737 4th May 2016 10:16

Square peg in a round hole!

apron 4th May 2016 10:52

So...you bid for leave in your top bid months for the year and hope to get a string of days off on one or the other side...they are now effectively telling us this will not happen most likely so to use our leave balance to bid for what I would have had previous as possibly days off! Leave usage instead of days off.....awesome :ugh:

SOPS 4th May 2016 12:46

I, of course, can't see this new deal. but it seems to me it's the same, they are using leave as days off.

JAYTO 4th May 2016 13:05

Is this not just the normal Ad-Hoc bidding that pops up from time to time.

It is confusing to say the least. This Ad-hoc bidding does not include the months of June and July. Why can only the top 2 bid groups ask for extra time off?
I am not quite sure what they mean.

Did TCAS write this?

an Ad-Hoc Leave Bid Round will open at 1500, 08 May 201
It's not a new biding system per se (until things change!)

TwinJock 4th May 2016 15:26

Seems as if TC has issued an edict that ROFF days before and after leave are a thing of the past. Apparently all drivers MUST get 42 days leave per year. Lets wait and see how V2.0 of the FCI reads.....

pumpkin 4th May 2016 15:51

Im missing a letter somewhere in my inbox clearly...

sluggums 4th May 2016 17:44

Another appalling attempt with smoke and mirrors. More lies and half truths pedalled out to try and stem the flow.

Or are they trying to butter us up prior to the 10th?

lospilotos 4th May 2016 18:02

At first I read the "days off prior/after leave cannot be guaranteed" as something for June/July as it was written in the same paragraph.... then I saw the last paragraph...

Kamelchaser 4th May 2016 18:13

So in the case where the company has forced a block of 4 or 5 days off, (which is pretty much just using your monthly days off entitlement)....you can't get any days off around it to make it even a respectable week away? Not like office workers who get their five days leave but get a block of nine off? Wow..if that's the case, they're certainly finding new and wonderful ways to drive people out the door.

donpizmeov 4th May 2016 18:38

I am sure the improvements to the package as hinted by JA will be also as impressive. Can't wait.

Ngenfire 4th May 2016 19:41

Can't get no satisfaction

So the way I read it is they are going to trade the roster satisfaction for all for leave satisfaction for a few over the peak period.

Sounds fine until you consider those that have peak leave for the first time in forever and now can't get any days off before or after.

A bit of root cause analysis wouldn't go amiss. Heavy handed management without solving the problems again!

320DRIVER 5th May 2016 08:16

Do we have to be acclimatised at 00:01 of the first day following LVE?

donpizmeov 5th May 2016 09:48

No you don't need to be acclimatised after leave.
If the muppets don't have 4000 emails of complaint because of this we deserve what we get.

Mrs Mangels 5th May 2016 19:58

When I read this, it had the undertones of the author with a gun to their head.
None of it was written, or thought out, in the guise of what the new DVP-FO had entrusted on his minions. The veiled arrogance of the email is insulting and expected. Sheer amateur hour.

Some of it does not make any sense-
"The total leave award for the leave year cannot exceed 42 days"
So what am I supposed to do with my other 20 days owing??? Are you again, admitting to me in writing that you will not honor my/ our contract?
"By rejecting an offer of leave you accept that you may not get 42 days leave for the year"
4 days a month is not really in the spirit of things, now is it. So again, by doing that, you're honoring my contract are you??
Gear down, flaps twenty just moved another 500 feet higher if they want to pull that ****.

Why do I feel like Oliver Twist asking for more??:ugh::mad:

Emma Royds 6th May 2016 03:42

As TwinJock has already alluded to, the word on the street is that Sir TC made his displeasure clear that leave balances were growing.

This twist in events raises the question of if there was the capacity to award extra leave from the outset? If there isn't then this extra leave will come at a cost and the price will be our rosters.

ruserious 6th May 2016 06:47

Emma and Mrs M, that was exactly my take on reading it, spot on

Uplink 6th May 2016 07:05

Ok I'm confused now. Does it mean they are opening a new leave module to cater for this or do we just add this to what we already have. Why are we therefore waiting until 8th...

lospilotos 6th May 2016 08:05

As the CRS only looks at your request for days off and checks if they are available and legal, in reality this means that days off cannot be "guaranteed" in any of your 1st and 2nd top bid months, regardless of if you have leave or not.

This unless the system would actually award you the days requested adjacent to leave and they plan to manually remove them, just to have us using up more leave.

It appears I am missing a letter from the DSVP as well.

donpizmeov 11th May 2016 12:46

No more than two days off prior to or after leave come July. Seems the new directive was attached to the usual if they don't like it they can leave msg.

Dropp the Pilot 11th May 2016 12:51

The trainers have had a similar restriction attached to their leave for years. Has the reasoning ever been explained or even justified? No. Can any demonstrable business or efficiency case be made for the practice? No.

It is spite and petty antagonism pure and simple.

yardman 11th May 2016 12:55

Not true Dropp.

Silky 11th May 2016 19:48

I'm afraid dropped is correct. There is a limit of 5 days around leave for trainers and on a normal roster for days off string. This does not exist for the line. Different rules.

yardman 12th May 2016 11:00

I believe Dropp was referring to a two day restriction which was posted previously. I agree that the 5 day restriction has been around for ages, but the 2 day restriction is both new and unwelcome.

lospilotos 12th May 2016 12:52

Obviously, with more days allocated as leave, less days will be available as off days. The days that are available need to get placed elsewhere in your roster to make it legal, 1 in 8, 2 in 14 etc...

donpizmeov 24th May 2016 08:09

Would be interested if anyone got any leave on the dates they bid for in this new round. The dates offered to me are 6 months different to what I asked. Of the 42 days leave now offered, 26 days are effectively forced leave nowhere near where I asked for.

Freaking muppets strike again.

Monarch Man 24th May 2016 08:25

Don, on the basis that the "system" would even let me bid for leave, despite numerous emails, phone calls, and even a visit to fleet, I don't genuinely hold out any hope! It must be because my pool of owed days exceeds 42 days, or perhaps they just don't like me.

donpizmeov 24th May 2016 08:55

That's weird Monach. I had in excess of 40 days leave owing to me. Did you already have 42 days leave this year prior to this round?

Monarch Man 24th May 2016 09:03

PM sent Don

flareflyer 24th May 2016 09:59

When are we supposed to see any confirmation of the latest round?

lospilotos 24th May 2016 11:28

On the 8th of June if itīs an extension of already awarded leave, otherwise on the 10th 3 months in advance of the leave month in question.

donpizmeov 24th May 2016 12:02

I got an email this morning. So have a few others.
PS, if anyone wants the my breakfast congee from the new menue you are welcome to it. Did people really trial this stuff?

Mrs Mangels 8th Jun 2016 20:28

Awards for extensions will be available in LASS by 1500, Wednesday 08 June 2016.

Got nothing, apart from the 53 days still in my bank, (worst interest rates ever), anyone else got anything???

I was waiting for the "system down, manpower issues, sorry for the delay" email, but maybe I'm the only one?!?!?

A bit harsh, where else can you deposit 53 days in a bank and add 42 more every year?

Monarch Man 12th Jun 2016 05:44

Still says "pending" as I managed to break through the barrier of monkeys and speak to an organ grinder.
Anyone actually get any leave?

Sheikh Your Bootie 12th Jun 2016 09:59

I was on the leave module the other day, and saw some "allocated' leave in a month that was of no use whatsoever habibis. So I rejected it.

Leave walla, said so you are rejecting it, yup never asked for it. I want summer leave. So yes, there is leave out there. Why, someone with so much in the bank was not offered before me, with actually not much in the bank, dunno. Maybe fleet orientated.

SyB :zzz::zzz:

BYMONEK 12th Jun 2016 17:22

' I WANT SUMMER LEAVE!'

Don't we all SYB, don't we all.
