Maid - Visa Cancellation and deposit return
 

Hey gents,

Does anyone have experience cancelling a Maid's Visa and getting the 2000AED deposit back?

I've been told EGHQ does not issue the refund, only the visa cancelation part and that a government office somewhere in Bur Dubai or Diera does the refund.

Is is a rather straight forward process? Is money issued on the spot at this government facility or is it a long drawn out process like everything else around here?

Easy...
1) Go to EGHQ typing centre, then Immigration and cancel Visa.
2) Has maid left the country or got new sponsor? If so go to step 3.
3) Go to Immigration building near Etisilat building/Trade centre roundabout. Take original deposit slip, if you don't have it you can have reissued for a small fee at the same counter. Turn left when walking through main doors, ask for slip for visa deposit refunds. Take paperwork to counter and almost done. Once stamped take copy to bank outside and pay the 10dihrams and they will give you 2000 dhs cash.
If you go around 7-8 am you will be cashed up in 15 minutes!!
