what's happening Indian Atc??

This has happened twice now in two months,
Both times travelling north, north west,
While transiting via Colombo FIR, we were requested to climb to flight level 360... It wasn't the ideal time but as you know, sometimes it won't be offered again, so we grabbed the opportunity,
Approx 20 min later, in the chennai FIR we were instructed to descent back to fl level 340
It's happened twice now!!!
No coordination...
Your damned if you climb and damned if you don't!!!
We queried the poor coordination, but ofcourse no response except descent to level 340
It's lucky these days we don't fly into Dxb with min fuel
Any similar experiences

That's lovely, proud to call you an esteemed colleague..
If you've got nothing constructive to add, do I or anyone else for that matter deserve that kind of response...

GoreTex 24th Aug 2015 17:00

omg, you climbed 2000 feet and then went down again, did you file an ASR?

MosEisley 24th Aug 2015 17:54

Relax Francis, happens all the time. Take a few extra tons, put ATC as the reason, hit Bubin with extra hold fuel, land with extra gas in the tanks, go home and sleep easy. Done it for years, never heard a peep.

GA Button 24th Aug 2015 20:34

What he said 😊

SOPS 24th Aug 2015 23:40

You're not serious, are you?

north flyer 25th Aug 2015 02:04

adel, were you the one, who when told to fly 210, said "that is below our min clean speed" and then when the controller asked "what is your min clean speed" the reply was "211".

QCM 25th Aug 2015 02:12

Anyway you don't burn extra for being +\- 2000ft away from level...or just a little...probably crossing traffic

Outatowner 25th Aug 2015 10:51

You don't burn extra??? Odd. Why do they put those adjustment figures on the OFP then?

Anyone who expects anything but sheer incompetence and pushy ignorance from indian ATC is kidding himself.

Fearless Leader 25th Aug 2015 12:40

" and then when the controller asked "what is your min clean speed" the reply was "211".
Worst part of that statement, is that you can't make this stuff up:ugh::ugh:

"Pushy ignorance"

Thanks! That's the phrase I've been looking for.

"You don't burn extra??? Odd. Why do they put those adjustment figures on the OFP then? "

The figures are for -4000 feet. So +/- 2000 feet your contingency should generally take care of it. Small change.

QCM 26th Aug 2015 15:03

......+/- 2000ft for 20 mn according to initial post guys...
peanuts versus +/-4000ft correction valid for entire flight!:ok:

Panther 88 26th Aug 2015 18:24

Those poor guys/gals are working airspace from the transition level to probably the fl40s. And they have time to answer your questions about coordination? Just either accept the clearance or don't. Simple really.

springbok449 26th Aug 2015 18:44

I think defo worthy of an ASR...
Just out of curiosity was this before of after you couldn't contact Mumbai on HF...?

I'll get my coat...

GA Button 26th Aug 2015 18:49

Did you, by any chance, find some magnetised cutlery on your crew meal tray a few months ago?

Kamelchaser 26th Aug 2015 19:08

...or was it indeed you who put the "EICAS Speedbrake Extended came on in descent" ASR?

Jeez, I file an ASR if it doesn't come on in descent...I figure it can't be working.

motojet 27th Aug 2015 02:55

Perhaps he was the one who filed an ASR for "overfueled by 600 kilos"...

adel 27th Aug 2015 06:34

what's happening Indian Atc??

What can I say folks, querying the efficiency of Indian atc, has now pidgin holed me as an ASR
time waster...
I have never filed any of those frivolous ASR described above.
I was merely making an observation and hoping to get other views...i still disagree that it's normal or acceptable to be flying like a yoyo,

Rule3 28th Aug 2015 13:16

Hardly a yoyo

Ever heard of crossing traffic?
Mix of aircraft?
Significant economic benefit?

Etc, etc.

Adel...I have news for you, and this may come as a shock.

You are not the only aircraft in the sky.:ouch:
